Not only is this 'The Greatest Basketball Story Ever Told,' this is the best story ever told. This is without a doubt the most outstanding book I have ever read. If you have seen the movie, 'Hoosiers' then you know all about the great Milan Miracle. As great as the movie is (my favorite movie) the book is even better. Guffey grabs you by the shirt and doesn't let go until the very end, when you are still captured by this masterpiece. It makes you want to go shoot baskets and pretend your Bobby Plump, or Jimmy Chitwood. Knowing the players' real names, the real teams they played, makes the experience of tiny Milan that much greater. I am not the type of person that just sits and reads all day and can't put a book down. I had never found one that great, but this one occupied all of my time. It was like I was a fan in 1952 and was waiting to see what the team might accomplish next. If you want to read a terrific book about not only basketball, but about a great true story, pick this book up, and you won't be able to put it back down.
