Overview

While the variety of producers and production styles makes for a rather choppy flow, this disc offers excellent proof of Beth Nielsen Chapman's considerable talents as both a singer and songwriter. While she is often associated with country-pop, her stylistic approach is closer to adult-oriented rockers like Sheryl Crow or Joan Armatrading. Indeed, tunes like "Life Holds On" and "Beyond the Blue" are emotionally resonant without slipping into pure sentimentality or cliché. A strong collection from an honest artist.

Beth Nielsen Chapman was unknown to me until I bought Neil Diamond's Tennessee Moon CD. Since hearing her with N.D. I have purchased almost every CD she has out. They are all GREAT!!! Several friends have asked,"who is that singing?" when they heard the CD in my home. They plan to look for her CDs and buy then too. She is the best kept secret in town.

I had heard a gew of Beth Nielsen Chapman's songs over the years, and "All I Have" was played as a first dance song at a friend's wedding a few years back. I really liked that song, but when I heard "Sand And Water" on a Charmed Episode, I was really hooked. Although alot of the songs here were not huge hits, the songs are smoooth and heartfelt, and she performs them from her heart. I know that this is one of the best collections of Greatest Hits I have the pleasure of owning.
