All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Like many of his peers, Cat Stevens made records that were identified by strong, memorable hit singles, but make no mistake: he made albums that were cohesive works onto themselves. For that reason, the very idea of a Cat Stevens greatest-hits collection may be troublesome to some fans, since they will only notice the missing album tracks, but Greatest Hits does its job exceptionally well. With the exception of "The Hurt," all of his hits from the early '70s -- "Wild World," "Moon Shadow," "Peace Train," "Morning Has Broken," "Sitting," "Oh Very Young," "Another Saturday Night," "Ready," and "Two Fine People" -- are here, along with three other fine album ...

    yo, "a listener"

did you check ou this album just to let consumers know steven's beef with rushdie? Stevens is a great artist, dispite his political and religous convictions. This album is awesome!

    To listener

Its obvious that you didnt read the whole biography provided by bn, otherwise you would have realised that he resinded his statement against Rushdie. He admitted that he had made a mistake, next time get your info straight before you post on a public board so that you dont look like an idot.

cat stevens rocks, my mother loved him in the 70's and we both love him more than 30 years later

this is an amazing track! his unique voice soothes the acheing soul and makes you feel the energy he feels. songs "like morning has broken" and "father and son" are beautiful but "wild world" and "can't keep it in" are great to jump around too. i'd strongly recommend getting this cd.

    do times change?

to listener--it wasn't all that long ago that I heard the same arguement not to support Elton John because he was homosexual. It's time to seperate the music from the politics, and regardless of what Cat Stevens believes in and despite the fact he's not currently ''PC'', the truth is that this is some of the best music ever made. Listen to Peace Train. You'll get it yet.

    Before you buy....

Let us not forget that Cat Stevens (aka Yusuf Islam), supported Ayatollah Khomeini's fatwa against ''Satanic Verses'' author Salman Rushdie. In other words, he supported someone killing Rushdie over a book he had written. Do you now want to support this person?

    Cat Stevens: Unique Musician

A uniquely raspy voice and an enchanting blend of poetic lyrics and simple melodies have been traditional Cat Stevens trademarks. ''Greatest Hits'' is a compilation of some of Stevens most popular songs. For loyal fans, this CD is an embodiment of the musical distinction that Cat Stevens exemplifies. Like other great lyricists of his time, Stevens utilized a blend of ostensibly simple prose very pleasantly accompanied by an unadorned but extremely effective melody. The combination of the two produces the style that has become the very essence of the music of Cat Stevens. He is truly a gifted performer and the ''Greatest Hits'' CD provides many wonderful listening experiences for years to come.
