Greatest Hits

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Often dismissed as a novelty act, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince catapulted to the top of the rap game with lyrical humor, hilarious videos, and pop-ready hooks. The bravado of "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson," the hilarity of "You Saw My Blinker," and the languid flow of "Summertime" blasted out of every boom box on the block back in the day -- and these songs still sound as fresh today. "Boom! Shake the Room" may be the most grating single of the bunch, but it's still an addictive slice of party-pumping fun. And for fans of Will Smith's sitcom, the theme to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" is included, as is the mega-hit title track from "Men in Black."

All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince actually turned out better albums than many of their pop-rap contemporaries, but like their peers, they excelled at singles, not albums. That's what makes the appearance of Greatest Hits welcome. Although it has its flaws -- the sublime "Summertime" is here twice, but only as an "Extended Club Mix" and a "'98 Remix" -- it remains an excellent summation of their career, boasting such hits as "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble," "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson," "Parents Just Don't Understand," "Boom! Shake the Room," "Ring My Bell," "A Nightmare on My Street" and, as a bonus, Will Smith's 1997 solo hit "Men in Black."
