All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Greatest Hits is an excellent, thorough 14-track collection containing all of Journey's big hits, from 1978's "Wheel in the Sky" to 1986's "I'll Be Alright Without You." Although the songs aren't presented in chronological order and a handful of minor hits "Suzanne," "Walks Like a Lady" aren't included, it doesn't matter, since every essential Journey single -- "Only the Young," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Any Way You Want It," "Separate Ways," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," "Open Arms," "Send Her My Love" -- is here, which means that it's all most casual fans will ever need. New Fans/Younger Audiences Will Love This

I'm a new fan, although I've heard their songs on the radio plenty and I already love the music. I'm in college and am already addicted to them, though I don't have any of their CDs. I'm going out to buy this one later today, so I say to new fans: it will be worth the money!

Their music is amazing. It's not too mellow but not too hard, So if you don't listen to one extreme or the other, Journey is right down your alley! Trust me! You'll love the songs!

    I Also Recommend:

    Reflecting Journey's Time

Although this is missing some of the best songs, this is enough for anyone who is mildly addicted to Journey. For someone who is a little more interested, you might look into the Essential Journey, or purchasing Escape, Departure, Infinity, and Raised on Radio for the ultimate experience.

On a lighter note, this exhibits Journey without touching on it's more heavy songs. This doesn't give any songs such as Little Girl or Where Were You, which show the darker, more emotional side of Journey. It shows all the radio staples, but it doesn't necessarily show the most important things. This disc has what people want to listen to, Journey-wise. Not what people need to listen to. People can say, "Oh, I like Journey!", but they can't say "Oh, I totally get the emotion this CD exhibits!" without listening to the whole repetoire that Journey produced over their fourteen years.

I enjoyed this CD. It was the first one I bought and initially sparked my interest in Steve Perry. What really got me is that they never put any songs on the CD with Greg Rollie singing, which in listening the the early stuff, you can see how all of this was formed through Rollie's influence. If you want to see the real Journey, purchase the recommended products below.

Excellent CD. Have been listening non-stop. Awesome vocals by Steve Perry.
Great Eco-friendly packaging. Wish lyrics were included.
