Overview

Keith Urban had a rough go of it in late 2006, when the tour for his brilliant Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing was delayed for health-related reasons. Urban has nonetheless been a road dog in 2007, and this greatest-hits package couldn't have come at a better time. Covering eight years, these are not merely album cuts, but in most cases, the actual radio edits of hit singles -- album lengths are generally longer -- so these are the actual versions of tunes that made country radio and the video channels and don't replicate previous collections. From "I Told You So" and "Making Memories of Us," it goes right on through to the far more powerful version of "Days Go By" and "Where the Blacktop Ends." The 16 catalog tracks top what is the norm for compilations like this, which usually stop at ten or twelve cuts. But there's a bit more; a lot more actually. There are two new tracks that lead this baby off, and the first one's a doozie. "Romeo's Tune" was written by Steve Forbert who, back in the mid- and late '70s, was the next up-and-comer on the songwriting scene (and who appeared on an early Cyndi Lauper video), who has been compared to both Bob Dylan and John Prine, but at the time, his brand of easy, open rock was far more refreshing than that of either of those comparisons. The song is a great fit for Urban, whose voice has just enough graininess in it to recall the original, but it also rocks harder. Urban is faithful to the original but lets his guitar do plenty of talking in the mix. This should be released as a new single to country radio, and hopefully there'll be a video coming to boot. The other bonus is "Got It Right This Time (The Celebration)," which was self-penned. It begins with a B-3 and a Fender Rhodes, a slippery drum loop, and one of those trademark, midtempo love ballad hooks that Urban can write all day long. Given his travails over the past few years, this sounds like a love song for his new wife, Nicole Kidman. That's conjecture, but given that it was written in 2006, it's a pretty good bet. When the guitars open up and the snare starts to crack, Urban's croon glides over this soulful, easy rocker and builds to a killer bridge where the electric six-strings, percussion, organ, and piano swell to the bursting point and it's all joy. Bottom line: it's one of the great romantic rockers of 2007. Equal parts Tom Petty, Don Henley, and Bob Seger, it's a country-pop song that will go down as one of his best. Clocking in at almost 76 minutes, this is a comp for the fans, and for the uninitiated as well. [This is the slightly extended version of the compilation, featuring the bonus track "You Look Good in My Shirt."]

I ordered this particular CD to replace the "18 Kids" I misplaced. It said, "special edition" thinking it might have one or two more songs on it - well, to my surprise it contains a CD with 8 of Keith's music videos!!! Love this one.

Keith Urban is the modern day version of Elvis. He has the whole package, looks, charisma, talent, stage presence and sex appeal all wrapped up into one. he creates his own sound, dubbed country rock, his music appeals to a wide variety of audiences. There's something for everyone on this album, love songs, rock song, and a whole lot of fun. Even if you've never heard his music before, you will not be disappointed!

Keith Urban's Greatest Hits CD is outstanding. Keith is the best performer in the world. I own every Keith CD made and this is one of my favorites. It has amazing songs from his first album(Keith Urban) to his latest CD(Love Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing). The special edition is amazing too because it has all the songs on the cd but also 12 of his best music videos!! Keith is just an amazing performer and song writer. His songs mean so much to me. If you are having a bad day, put in Keith and he will brighten it! This cd is worth every $. It is definately worth buying anytime but especially during the holidays!! This is a great Christmas gift for all ages

Keith Urban is the only artist "in any genre" whose albums I enjoy from beginning to end. Every track is great! This album is the best of the best. I was glad to get the radio remixes since they aren't on the other albums. Keith is a great song writer, singer and awesome guitarist. He's just the best. I actually bought the special edition with his videos -a great bonus!

Keith Urban is an extraordinary artist. He is an unbelievable talent with an ability to take you to a place where only few musicians can. For years I have enjoyed his music and own all of his albums. Many times you purchase an album and find that only one or two songs touch you this album is different. His Greatest Hits is a great compilation of his 'hit' songs. If you are new to his music this makes a great introduction, that covers his music over an eight year span. Each album is uniquely different and timely. Like many others, I felt compelled to also purchase this album & special edition, for that very reason - to have his 16 hit songs on one album. I promise you, you will soon be out there trying to get your hands on all of Keith's music! So get it and while you're there get one for a friend they'll remember you each time they play it.... I would!

This CD/DVD compilation is the one I’ve been waiting for! “18 kids” is phenomenal. Keith is such an amazing performer & this CD delivers nothing more the MAGIC. I would not categorize Keith as just a country artist. He is so much more. He takes you through the ups & downs of life like no other artist recording today. You can’t resist the infectious rhythms of “Days Go By” or “Who Wouldn’t Want To Be Me” along with “Where the Black Top Ends”. Or you can’t help but be moved by the haunting emotions of “Stupid Boy”, “Everybody” & “You’ll Think of Me”. Let’s not forget Keith’s astounding collection of songs dedicated to love, “Better Life”, You’re My Better Half”, “Once in a Lifetime” & his stunningly beautiful “Your Everything”. The 12 videos included in the package certainly make this a winning combination & a great gift for anyone who is on a quest for amazing music from any genre.

This is one amazing CD!!! there are 18 songs, all of Keith's hit singles! Some of these are radio-edited, so they are a little bit different!! There also are 2 new songs, which are just great! There is the Cover Song of Romeos Tune, which in my opinion is even better then the origional, and there is a new version of the song called Got it Right This Time, which is on Keith's current selling album, Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing. This is a re-make of that song, it's called Got it Right Tihs Time"The Celebration". It uses more instruments and is a very beautiful song!!! This album is more than just a Greatest Hits album, its has fun songs, happy songs, heart-touching songs, and more! It's really the best you could ask for and I HIGHLY reccomend everyone going out and getting your copy of 18 Kids, today!!!!!!

If you love music and/or Keith Urban you should get this CD !!! The new material is just fantastic. I really love Keith's version of "Romeo's Tune". They also picked a great diverse bunch of Keith's hits. The remasters are just phenomenal. There might be one or two you haven't heard. There is also a "Special Edition" available that has some extra DVD material. That shouldn't be missed either!

This CD appeals to all music fans - those who love country music and those who want to experience a talented singer/songwriter/musician. Keith perfectly blends the "feel good" aspects of country music - words you can understand and relate to - with fabulous rhythms - including some amazing guitar work - to create this greatest hits CD. Owners of other Keith Urban CDs will want to own this to have the “best of the best” in one place. New fans will want to own this to have a great sampling of Keith’s work. These amazing songs include all his number one hits – as well as two new tracks. Aptly titled “18 Kids,” it’s easy to see why these 18 tracks were selected by Keith – and it will be easy for listeners to see why these are the songs that have propelled Keith to stardom and to winning many awards, including ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Entertainer of the Year.’

What more could anyone want?! A CD with all of Keith Urban's hits, including two new songs (which are FANATASTIC by the way!)? This CD proves this man has extraordinary talent and a beautiful voice. With each song you can tell he writes from his heart and performs from his heart. If you know someone who loves music, I suggest buying this CD for them, and even yourself! I promise you'll fall in love with it as soon as you turn it on.

This is absolutely a "must have" CD! Having Keith's hits in one place is convenient and such a joy to hear those songs back to back. I like the remix of "Got it Right This Time" -- it's a bit more upbeat than the original. Keith's music is on the mark for everyday life we each face. You get the feeling he actually has lived the life reflected in those lyrics. You can hear the sincerity and honesty in his voice. Most of his music has an uplifting message and when it's tied together with really cool rock guitar rifts is just astounding to hear.

This is one of the best endeavors of an artist to have a greatest hit cd. And Keith is no exception, this is the best of the best of his music. All the way from his debut cd to present music, even some new stuff. It is like being at his concert from start to finish. All these songs mean something to him, and he would like you to have them mean something to you. This is a great collection for anyone new to Keith or never really listening to his music. Would make a great Christmas gift for any age

Why should you buy Keith’s Greatest Hits CD? Because it has some of the most fantastic songs around on there, that’s why! His new cover of Romeo’s Tune is, in my opinion, better than the original, and Got It Right This Time sounds great with a full-band recording. Who can resist popping this into their car or computer and singing along with hits like “Days Go By” or “Somebody Like You” or even new hits like “Stupid Boy” and “I Told You So”? I certainly can’t, and if you buy this for someone for the holidays, then you might just have a new convert on your hands to take to Keith’s concerts come this summer!

18 Kids is a beautiful work of art 8 years in the making. The album kicks off with a casual cover of Steve Forbert's Romeo's Tune. This extremely catchy rhythm features a piano, one of the many instruments Urban can play. The second track is a remake of one of the songs off of his Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing album, Got It Right This Time (The Celebration). This is my personal favorite on the entire album. He took this simple song and transformed it into just what the title indicates, a celebration. It starts out with just a keyboard, a drum machine, and vocals. Then electric guitar, percussion, and background vocals for harmony eventually join in. As each part comes in and adds to the song, it gradually builds up leading to a huge explosion of melody. The joy and happiness that this song is about is portrayed perfectly through the music, making it an instant hit and one of the best tracks on the album. The next 16 tracks are a nice mix of billboard chart toppers. The entire album touches on a wide range of emotions. Listen to mind blowing guitar solos as in Stupid Boy, the soothing sound of solo piano in Tonight I Wanna Cry, a Celtic sounding I Told You So, the love ballad Making Memories Of Us, country-rock themes such as Days Go By, Somebody Like You, and Better Life, progressive rolling upbeat numbers such as Where The Blacktop Ends and Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me, and more! As if this wasn't reason enough to love this album, the album case itself is quite a treat. The insert booklet is full of colorful photos of Keith, including all the covers of his albums and a few from his adolescence while the back of the booklet includes a personal message from him. Instead of the usual jewel case, the CD comes in a paper board cover that folds open to reveal some amazing photos of the entertainer taken from his latest tour. The paper board is at least 30% recycled material to help preserve the environment! Overall, this album is superb! The lyrics of these songs are so simple yet they strike so deeply with many people. The passion that Keith Urban puts into his music really shows.
