Overview

Straddling the lines between pop, country, and rock & roll, Rusty Draper dabbled in a little of each and came up with an appealing and commercial hybrid style. Sounding a bit like Frankie Laine's younger brother, Draper is mostly remembered for his 1953 hit "Gambler's Guitar," but he was equally comfortable with exotic novelties ("Native Dancer"), faux skiffle ("New River Train"), and rock ("Tiger Lily"). Greatest Hits collects the cream of his late-'40s and early-'50s recordings for Mercury, and offers a fun time for those who enjoy more than a little variety in their music.
