The MTB was one of the best of the southern rock band, only surpassed by the Allman Brothers. They blended rock, jazz, country , Americana, and even western swing into a pleasant, mellow stew and their lyrics were more mature than some of the other groups who came out of the genre. Jerry Eubanks' flute even reminds me of Traffic. Their peak only lasted for 5 years in the 1970s and this collection is drawn from that era. Had they been working in the present they might have become country or jam band superstars. The Stompin' Room Only live collection is also a good entrance point for those interested in Marshall Tucker's peak period.

Instead of following a strict chronological line, producer Ron Rainey assembles these tracks in a manner that makes for an ultimate MTB playlist. ...
