Greatest Hits is a lean yet complete overview of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' biggest singles from their first prime. Sure, it's possible to pinpoint a few great songs missing, but the group had a lot of great songs during the late '70s and '80s. This rounds up the biggest hits from that era, and in doing so, it turns into a succinct summary of the band at the top of its game. Everything from "American Girl" to "Free Fallin'" is included, with 16 tracks proving that Petty was one of the best rockers of his time. [The 2008 revamp swapped out a cover of Thunderclap Newman's "Something in the Air" that was added to the 1993 comp as collector bait for fans, and substitutes Petty's duet with Stevie Nicks, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." This trade signals how the 2008 Greatest Hits is designed as a catalog album, whereas the 1993 Greatest Hits was expected to scale the charts -- which it did thanks to "Mary Jane's Last Dance," the other new song on the original comp that turned into an actual hit and is retained on this 2008 makeover.]

This is the best cd! Most people think teenagers like rap and other stuff, but I'm a teenager and I absolutely love Tom Petty. He appeals to all age groups!
Tom Petty is one of the best rock musicians I have ever heard. This cd proves it, his greatest hits album has some of the classic songs like I need to know, refugee, and Mary Jane's last dance on it. I highly recommend anyone who likes rock music to buy this album. I'm sure it wont dissapoint.
From the first song to the last, Tom Petty does not dissappoint. Classics like 'Free Fallin'', 'Mary Jane's Last Dance' and 'Refugee' can be found. Hey, if you're a rock lover, this collection does not dissappoint.
I started my collection of great music with this CD and can't get enough of this excellent work. Every song is fantastic and worth buying the CD for. I especially like, ''Listen to Her Heart'' and ''The Waiting''. They show off their talent best on this CD. I thouroghly enjoyed it from start to finish.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers can break my heart any time they want with their California-influenced riffs and enigmatic lyrics. In a compilation that features the best of Tom Petty, they spellbound with their love of music and their defiant souls like songs like "I Won't Back Down" and the elegical and somewhat devilish "Free Fallin.'" This generation's Beach Boys.
The Greatest Hits CD by Tom Petty has to be the Greatest Hits CD ever made. Tom Petty has performed many songs over several decades, yet he never seems to fade away. With his classic rock style music, he draws in audiences of all ages. I believe it takes a real artist to be able to accomplish something like that. His Greatest Hits CD is simply the best because it takes songs from the beginning of his career to present day compiled on one CD. The songs on this CD are all ones that are very well known and fun to listen to. I have been to several of Tom Petty's concerts and he always seems to enjoy performing to a crowd. You can tell that it is something that he truly loves to do. Knowing this makes me enjoy his music even more because I know that he appreciates his fans. You should definitely buy this CD if you don't already have it. I guarantee that you will be happy with your purchase!!
This Cd has all the greates hits of Tom Petty. You couldn't ask for a better CD. 'Free Fallin' and 'Learning to Fly' are my favorite songs on this album. A definite recommendation for anyone who loves good music.
The best song Runnin' Down A Dream is their best music. Even though it is all the greatest music ever. I listen to it every day It inspires me!!
This is by far the most definitive greatest hits package I have ever owned. Covering Petty's full career, even his solo work, this CD is all you need to own if you are a casual Petty fan. Mary Jane's Last Dance is probably the greatest hit from the group and Something's In The Air Is worthy of its company on this disc. A must have for any fan of classic rock.
This is the most prolific greatest hits package ever released. Tom Petty and the Boys are one of the greatest rock bands of all time. This is a virtual 'A' side greatest hits album. Every track is a rock radio staple. If you don't own this, or don't plan on buying it, and, if you are sensitive to being belittled, DO NOT tell anyone.
