    Adequate

    This book was somewhat helpful but is entirely intellectual in nature. Excellent for educational, historic perspective but completely lacking in suggested walks,etc. Does not give you the feeling that the author has actually been there but rather, has a very good encyclopedia.
    Did make everyone think of me as the 'brain' of the trip, but did not direct me to personalize my time with real Greek opportunities. A better map of the country -- even just the mainland would have been appreciated.
    Chose this one because I decided to buy just one travel book this trip. In my experience Rick Steves does a great job with the folksy personal touch but he has often provided me with innacuate information. Lonely Planet types give the walks, etc. but lack much history. Also I wanted something specifically about my visit -- Athens and the Mainland. This book did that.
