I bought this book in Greece in the 1980's. I can't imagine a better Greek cookbook. I have learned so much from the author's personal anecdotes and scholarly references. The dishes are described so clearly and eloquantly that no photographs are needed. Recipes are delicious and work every time.
I have owned this book in paperback since 1987 and have used it so many times that it is falling apart. Having lived in Greece for 10 years I found the descriptions of the country and of local food extremely interesting and the recipes absolutely wonderful. I have tried to replace this book, but unfortunately cannot find one. However, I will continue my search.
