This book provides a brief description of almost fifty classical and medieval Greek myths and legends, including the beginings of the World and the coming of Man, and the stories of the Argonauts, Perseus, Oedipus, the Trojan War and the Odyssey amongst many others. Intended as an introduction to Greek mythology for younger readers, the stories are illustrated by scenes from Greek art.

First, my main complaint with this book: it's way too glossy. It often spends more than a page talking about short, insignificant events, but totally glosses over pivotal ones. Second issue is the fact that the writer sounds like a confused undergraduate student. Writing is, at times grammatically ambiguous (misplaced or missing commas, run-on sentences, etc...), at other times is simply incomprehensible. If you're not interested in Greek mythology as just a set of fairy tales, you will probably not enjoy this book - it sounds more like a bad Master's thesis. The only reason I'm giving this book 2 stars is that the price is right.

Technically, the book was not written well, because it contains grammatical errors and not a huge variety of vocabulary. However, as a student, this book proved to be very helpful. The art is wonderful, and the stories are fascinating.
