Overview

In his first story arc on the new GREEN ARROW series (collected in GREEN ARROW: QUIVER), fan-favorite writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Jersey Girl) resurrected the legendary DC hero to huge critical and popular success. He followed it up with the work collected in GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE — a harrowing 128-page trade paperback stylishly rendered by Phil Hester & Ande Parks. This volume collects GREEN ARROW #11-15, including the original painted covers by Matt Wagner, and features an introduction by Hester and a special sketchbook section showcasing his and Parks' dynamic art. This graphic novel puts Oliver Queen and his closest loved ones directly in the madman's bullseye. Plus, the relationship between Ollie and his son/successor Connor Hawke is explored, while Mia — the young girl whom Green Arrow saved — flirts with becoming a new "Speedy." Also, Ollie rekindles his romance with Dinah Lance, a.k.a. Black Canary!

Meet the Author

In the few years since his entry into the indie film community, Kevin Smith has seen it all -- from the surprise critical and commercial success he received for his debut film Clerks to the disappointing critical and commercial drubbing he took on his second outing, Mallrats. He caught a break on his third film, the critically hailed Chasing Amy, and managed not to get killed by the religious zealots over his fourth film, the comedic meditation Dogma. Thus not deterred, Smith advanced and has written and directed Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Zach and Miri Make A Porno.
He's written comic books featuring not only his own characters (Clerksand Jay and Silent Bob), but other characters as well--the award-winning Daredevil at Marvel Comics, and the award-winning GREEN ARROW at DC comics. And if the film thing doesn't pan out, he does own his own comic-book store -- Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, in beautiful downtown Red Bank, New Jersey.

Kevin Smith has sorted history when it comes to writing comics but his work on Green Arrow is good. Here we see Ollie trying to return to form and deal with the changes in his life. Smith’s dialogue is always good but the plot and pacing here were good. Phil Hester’s art hits the story very well. Overall, a good book.

Both this and it's predecessor, Quiver, written by Kevin Smith, are awesome! I love em both! Don't pass up these 2 comic gems! If you're into the DC universe and have maybe never read this or the Quiver graphic novel, give them a read! They are cool.
