    Pleasant Surprise

Great little book! I love the references to exploring the five senses in the great outdoors (squishing toes in the sand, seeing bright patterns in a butterfly's wing). The illustrations are lovely with colors made from eco-friendly inks, and cute characters. The rhyming is nice, but a little out of sync in some of the stanzas (easily overlooked). I was pleasantly surprised that it also works as a bedtime book, due to the last couple of pages (stars, listening to crickets). I read this book to my 5-month old, and she enjoys looking at the pictures and listening to rhymes. I look forward to reading it to her when she's older and talking about the themes of the book. I will be buying more in the series!
