Green Up Time is subtitled "Ellen Zachos Sings Botanical Broadway," and that's just what it is: the central metaphors of all of these songs are plant-based in nature. Zachos has done a fine job of collecting rare specimens here, digging deep the gardening metaphors will stop soon, promise in the catalogs of most of ...

Zachos has done a fine job of collecting rare specimens here, digging deep the gardening metaphors will stop soon, promise in the catalogs of most of the great musical theater composers for little-known gems like Flanders & Swann's "Misalliance" and the Gershwins' "In the Mandarin's Orchid Garden."
