Overview

The wild magic that brought them together is nothing compared to what they find in each other’s arms.

A Sirens series story.

Lorelei Michaels, flamboyant lead vocalist of the all-female rock band The Sirens, has a passion for myths and legends. She just never expected to find herself actually living one.

While touring with the band, a Viking armband with an interesting history and a design known as the gripping beast throws her into a time warp – full of Norsemen, macho attitudes and a lamentable lack of modern amenities.

Upon seeing the strange, beautiful woman being auctioned off, Erik Thorolfsson was mesmerized. Until the slave trader put his hands on her. With a roar of rage and sword drawn, he charged forward to take that which he wanted for his own. But he discovers owning her isn’t enough, he has to make her his—for all time.

Meet the Author

Charlene Teglia decided she wanted to earn a living writing fiction at age twelve. After piling up enough written pages to sink Atlantis again, she sat down to write a novel and find out if it would sell. The first novel was so much fun that she got carried away and kept going, although it took another eight years to make her first novel sale. In between, she worked for various software and technology companies. She left HP when she realized she wanted to write printer repair instructions in iambic pentameter. They thought she was so funny, they left her name plate on her cube after she left like a shrine. Or maybe it was as a warning to others. She now lives with her husband and two daughters in Washington.

Teglia's books have garnered several honors, including the prestigious Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Erotic Novel. Her work has been translated into Spanish, Thai and German, excerpted in Complete Woman, and selected by the Rhapsody, Doubleday and Literary Guild Bookclubs. When she's not writing, she can be found hiking with her family or opening and closing doors for cats.

Wow. Lorelei is really, sincerely, very annoying!! The whole babbling about modern culture schtick? Wow. Talk about *obnoxious*! Blech. More than once, I legitimately wanted to stop reading. Or skip ahead about 20 pages to see whether it would get any better (but it never did! She only stopped talking during sex, so I found myself wanting Erik to throw her down and bang her...everywhere...all the time, if only so she'd shut up). She's an emotional pendulum, and it boggles my mind how she managed to yank her head out of her ass long enough to look around and fall in love with the Viking who owns her. She's the most stubbornly obstinate, pig-headed, contentious, impossible woman ever, completely incapable of compromise!! I can't possibly imagine what Erik sees in her that's worth liking. And boy, Harold and Erik sure climbed aboard the "I Believe You" train real quick there at the end...And boy, everyone took her (dis)appearance remarkably well...no one was worried at all!! Dane thought it perfectly reasonable that the arm band had whisked her away. Perhaps I'm overstating; I really can't connect to the main character - I don't handle argumentative/contentious women well...especially when it's supposed to be seen as sexy. I was hoping the storyline could be redeemed anyways, but nothing of real excitement happens (I mean that for me, it's missing an "AH!" climactic moment. Most of it travels at a steady and congenial "Mmm-hmm...Mmm-hmm..." pace). And some of the main plot points were very rushed toward the end. I think the story would've benefited immeasurably if more focus had been spent on those major plot points instead of on Lorelei's shrill railings. This just didn't do it for me -- I shall be returning it. ASAP.

This was the first Charlene Teglia that I read - where have I been? Real hot book, with some strong characters. I thought the ending was kind of weak, but after all that sex - aren't we all?
