Editorial Reviews

Carla Anderton
The creators of Grit City are forging new territory for writers and artists. The edgy quality of the serialized tales lend themselves perfectly to the new medium Grit City's creators are calling emotobooks. The central characters, Dillon and Alyssa, are vividly and evocatively depicted, their stories are engrossing and visceral, and the reader can't help but keep turning the pages.
April Pohren
Grit City is an excellent and vivid storytelling experience that will keep the reader hungry for more at the end of each issue. Ron Gavalik's writing style is a reminder of the gangster type of detective/gang stories of days past, the classically gritty, old black and whites. The characters draw in the reader almost instantly. The expressionistic illustrations lend an air of depth and dimension that simply doesn't exist in most stories.
From The Critics
I absolutely loved this new way of reading! Grit City is really dark and morbid but deliciously riveting. As it is a short read I found it was really fast paced. It gave you a feel for Dillon then jumped into a dangerously fascinating story. I found the illustrations to be just as descriptive and mesmerizing as they were sinister and ominous, but done in a way that the images were crucial to the story.
