Bassist Roland Guerin's Groove, Swing & Harmony, Vol. II is heaviest on the groove. The music is accessible, melodic, and quite friendly, usually setting appealing grooves. There are a few exceptions to the rhythm section-oriented music. Altoist Wessell Anderson is in fine form on a relaxed and straightforward version of "Alone Together." The opening "I'll Stand Alone" is a strong blow-out, and the closing "Chase N' Morgan" is an unaccompanied bass workout on which Guerin shows what he learned from Milt Hinton.
