Groovy Stand in Emerald HD+

Overview

Slim, smart, and lightweight, this ingenious cover is the perfect accessory for your NOOK HD+. The polyurethane exterior, accented by a subtle "nook" logo, is both strong and smooth to the touch; inside, a plastic shell in contrasting charcoal cradles your device while offering full access to the controls. But that's only part of the story. An articulation on the front cover allows you to fold it back and tuck the edge into the metallic clip on the back of the case. The result is a sturdy stand that gives you the option of using your NOOK hands-free in landscape orientation, in either video-viewing mode or typing mode. (The viewing mode offers a more vertical angle.) Proving that this is a smart cover in every sense, it also puts your NOOK HD into sleep mode when you close the front flap and wakes it up when the flap is opened. A laser-etched "nook" logo on the back-cover clip adds to the visual appeal of this superior product.

when I bought my HD+, I bought a designer cover that was about as heavy as the Nook itself   I replaced it with the lightweight stand cover.   this cover, adds maybe an ounce or two of weight  . With this cover  the Nook is indeed the lightest tablet.  Added to that bonus, the stand is excellent  if you are reading at a table.   No, it doesn't work if you are balancing it on your knees.   No stand does

I have my cover (I have a blue one) for about a year and I love it. I'm always using it on my lunch hour to read or to watch a movie. I haven't had any problems with the stand for hands free option.

I love the color of this stand. However, I did not like that it doesn't stay in the clip on the back for standing position. Any movement will knock the Nook out of standing position, so basically you have to use this stand on a table or secure surface. You can't use it on your lap or while reading in bed because it won't stay standing.

right now I  am not sure how I like the Nook HD stand cover.  Since I read books a lot, I use it in the vertical position, and not the horizontal position.  and it does not stand up well in that position.... I have to use the Nook HD more than I have to comment about the NookHD itself.   I really like the nook simple.. have had that for 2 years, and really like it because I can carry it in my purse and take it everywhere with me...

I am disappointed. The cover will not stay in the clip when you fold it back, the slightest movement and it comes out. Also when it is folded back flat it moves and shifts. I suspect that over time the hinge may crack. I was hoping for a cover like my husband has on his iPad. Not sure I want to spend the bucks on the newer cover I see in hopes that it may be better. I cannot recommend this version.
