Eighteen-year-old Quinn MacPherson's biggest fear has always been turning out like her mentally unstable mother (solving algebraic equations comes in as a close second). That is, until she meets Benjamin Shaw. Quinn thinks hooking up with Ben over summer vacation will be nothing more than a quick fling. She can't even commit to a nail polish choice, much less some guy. Unfortunately for her, Ben is not just some guy. Ben gets her—the real her, flaws and all—and that scares the hell out of her. When Ben does the unthinkable—tells Quinn he's in love with her—she does what comes naturally. She pushes him away. Ben can only watch from a distance as Quinn lashes out and punishes him for daring to care about her. But how far can you push someone, even someone that loves you, before they are gone for good?

    amazing book!

What a beautiful and amazing book! Let me tell you people that this book rock my socks off. It is beautifully written, amazingly told and a great book that I can read over and over again! From the very first word on the page, I was hooked and done for.
What got me hooked on this book is the amazing plot line. I loved that Ms. Campbell created greatly flawed characters. I love seeing characters grow and become new. Seeing characters open their eyes to what they thought they were to someone they are meant to be. Every turn of the page left me either feeling love, sad, or just pissed off. The way the author is able to pull my emotions along with the book left me in awe!

The love interest in the book is so simple, something that happens everyday in this real world that it was super good to read. Love is not easy for everyone. I loved how Ben fought for Quinn. There is a line in the book that stole my heart. "If you love her. You fight for her." And Ben fought. And when he did, I swooned like there is no tomorrow. I fell in love with Ben, and rooted for him.

This is a great book! It not something based on over dramatic stuff, but real love, real problems, and a real girl just trying to find out where she stands. I loved that the author took many real elements adding them to her book. Grounding Quinn is an amazing debut! Filled with heart ache, one messed up family and a love that will with stand time, you must read this book

    Live To Read

If you need a great read, pick up this novel. The characters have depth and will become friends with the reader. The reader will be rooting for Quinn and Benjamin, the main characters, throughout the novel. The plot itself, while nothing otherworldly or extra special, is very interesting. Not too many books are about a girl having a fear of relationships and not chasing after the guy.

Quinn makes for a great, complex character. She has a safe where her heart should be. However, she doesn't make the best choices when it comes to guys. She tends to be afraid of intimacy. Selfishness, while not an ideal quality, makes Quinn seem much more realistic and likable.

Benjamin is Quinn's opposite in many ways. He is much more protective, caring, and responsible. He doesn't make that many mistakes. He is much more innocent than Quinn. For whatever reason, he really tries to love and respect Quinn. He takes all of her jabs and her pushing him away and continues to go after her.

The book has many ups and downs as well as quite a few exciting scenes. The reader will not be bored while reading this novel. The ending is definitely satisfying and not even all that predictable. This book is recommended for young adults/adults (females) who enjoy romance novels with a twist.

Wow so let me start by saying that I read a couple of bad revie

Wow so let me start by saying that I read a couple of bad reviews for this book on goodreads saying that it was a typical story.  F That!  I just finished reading and I am in the mood to go on goodreads and call anyone who reviewed this poorly all kinds of unkind words.

Quinn broke my heart through out the whole story.  She is a girl in so much pain from her completely dysfunctional family.  At one part I felt like reaching
right into the pages and screaming at her dad for being so blind in his selfishness that he wont see what he is doing to his daughter.
Quinn’s mother is mental.  At one point Quinn says that her mother is lucky her and her brother were never removed from their home.
     She is manic,
over medicated and a drunk. All of these are an extreme family disease.
This book brings to light how much the illness of a family can corrode its children.  She needed help.

In walks Ben.  He is everything to Quinn but she is so messed up from her dysfunctional family that she struggles to being okay
with feeling and letting someone love her.  He is perfect for her though.
So compassionate, caring, protective and loyal with lines like this,
If I never saw a sunset through your eyes,

I’d never know loss, or wounded pride.
If I never felt love like you made me feel,
I’d never believe that my heart was real.

I am anxious to finish this review so I can read the next one, Beautiful Things Never Last.

I didn't really care for this book. The girl was very bratty and selfish and new what she was doing when she did things. I understand that she had messed up parents but she made things worst by acting out. There was a lot of needless, stupid drama throughout the book concerning Quinn, but suddenly at the end of the book everyone sees the light and it's as if nothing happened. This book will be going into my archives as one of my mistakes. If all this author's other books are like this, I will not be reading those.
