Meet the Author

Ed E. Jacobs is associate professor and coordinator of the Master's Counseling Program at West Virginia University, where he has taught group counseling for the last 35 years. In the last 30 years, Dr. Jacobs has presented more than 150 group counseling workshops throughout the United States and Canada. He is a fellow in the Association for Specialists in Group Work and received the Professional Development Award from the Association for Specialists in Group Work in 2003.

Robert L. Mason was a professor for over 30 years at West Virginia University, where he taught group counseling, techniques, and theories courses. He is a professor emeritus at West Virginia University. Dr. Mason is a visiting professor at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he is teaching group counseling and other counseling-related courses. Dr. Masson serves on the West Virginia Examiners in Counseling.

Dr. Riley L. Harvill is the co-founder of the HarBeck Company, a human resource training and consulting firm located in Dallas, Texas. Before co-founding The HarBeck Company, Dr. Harvill was an associate professor at the University of North Texas in the Counselor Education Department, where he taught courses in individual and group counseling.

Dr. Christine J. Schimmel was a counselor educator at Marshall University for several years before joining the West Virginia University counseling faculty in 2009, where she coordinates the school counseling program. In the last 15 years, she has presented more than 40 group counseling workshops throughout the United States. Dr. Schimmel currently serves on the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling.
