A youth group is an amazing organism. Where else can you see the quarterback for the high school football team, the future valedictorian, and a skater worship and grow together? Church is a place where teenagers can leave their differences at the door and come together in Jesus' holy name. And this is exactly what Christians have been called to do.
However, bringing teenagers together may not always be so easy. The differences between them sometimes lead them to overlook their similarities. They may find it difficult to communicate with each other when it seems, because of different interests or backgrounds, that they're not even speaking the same language. What's needed are ways to bring these diverse young people together, and to have some fun along the way.
So provide some fun and common ground for your teenagers-and you can do it with this book! Two of the biggest reasons teenagers come to youth group are 1) to hang out with their friends and 2) to have fun. The games in this book provide countless opportunities to meet both needs; they also fulfill teenagers' deeper, often unspoken need for spiritual nourishment and guidance. These games can also help teenagers build strong bonds with one another, regardless of any differences that may keep them apart outside church walls.
GroupBuilder( Games and Activities for Youth Ministry is divided into five sections, each designed to meet different needs within your group.
The "Relationship Builders" section encourages teenagers to get to know each other better and begin to form lasting relationships with each other. The games focus on both group and one-on-one relationships.
Teenagers often have adifficult time trusting each other. The "Trust Builders" section provides many different exercises to help teenagers open themselves up and trust one another more.
The "Unity Builders" section helps the group become a more cohesive unit through shared experiences. Teenagers will work together and rely on each other in these games.
The games in the "Confidence Builders" section build up individuals and encourage them to build up each other. These games will help teenagers gain personal and social confidence within the group.
Finally, the games in the "Faith Builders" section help teenagers grow in their faith and their relationship with Jesus.

The games will also provide fresh new insights through discussion and debriefing experiences. The combination will serve to bond the members of your group as they follow Jesus.
