Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Rogal enlisted in the Marines as a teenager, just before war broke out. He fought in the Second Marine Division, never higher than a platoon leader, in the most violent struggles of the campaign. His memoir is unsophisticated, ignores all strategic verities, cares little about higher command—and is irresistible. Well worth reading, one of the best first-person war narratives.
