Lorne is back in book number 5 in the Justice series. She is still a tough cookie, maybe a little bit softer around the edges as she runs her new business of finding homes for unwanted pets. She soon realizes that this new endeavor with her husband is not going to give her the excitement she is used to and begins a second career, with her husband and family's help, of becoming a private investigator. Her first job finds her, and she is on the case of a serial rapist who seems to be very good at getting away with his crimes. But Lorne is all about justice! I love Lorne's character, her husband Tony, her family, and all of her old friends. There is also the return of Carol Lang, the psychic, which was a rich addition to this particular storyline. This did not have as much blood and guts as I am used to seeing in Comley's Justice series, but it was a fast read and the Justice books never disappoint.

GREAT ADDITION TO THE SERIES!
Comley has done it again. This is a great series! Each book is a quick read -- averaging between 180 and 200 pages. They are great mysteries full of excitement and suspense. Word of warning -- these can get just a little graphic at times and the subject matter of rape is one some people don't want to read about. That being said, Comely is a master at giving enough detail without being over the top. I just love the main character, Lorne, and have enjoyed reading the series in order to see what happens next in her life, as well as her family and loved ones. Comley gives us just enough Lorne and just enough mystery. You could read each of these as a stand-alone, as Comley does a good job of giving enough background so a reader will not be lost when she refers to a previous story line; however, you miss so much with only a smidgen of the story instead of knowing the whole story. So, I don't suggest you start with this one; however, if you do, I will say it is a great read and I would guess that you will want to go out and get the rest of the series once you finish it.
Thanx again for a short night of sleep, Ms. Comley, as I was up late again finishing another one of your books before I could shut my eyes. Can't wait to start the next!

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I was shocked by the ending and not sure I would have ended it that way, but that is why I am NOT an author! I will definitely read another book from this author. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
