Guess How Much I Miss You is a beautifully illustrated story about two bears that miss each other when they aren't together. The story teaches children that even when loved ones are far away, they are still in each other's hearts. The book is easy to set up. Follow these directions:
• Turn to the page you wish to record.
• Press the RECORD button. Listen to the instructions. When you hear a beeping sound, read the words on the page.
• After you are finished reading the page, press STOP. You can re-record until you are satisfied with your recording. Repeat the process with the remaining pages of the book.
• Set the locking switch behind the screw-on plate to ensure that your recording won't be inadvertently erased. Your voice recording is permanent; it will not be lost when the book's batteries are changed. Three replaceable AAA batteries come with the book.

This recordable storybook was designed for children of all ages. It is a wonderful gift idea for out-of-town relatives, a parent who is away from home frequently, or someone in the military assigned to a faraway land.

    Very disappointed grandma

    I,too, was so excited to send this to my grandson in San Fran.....it took MANY times to finally get the recording process completed..... then I mailed it to him and the recordings were completely messed up,,,, it would work correctly on one page and then on the next page it would not do my voice but rather the voice of the person reading the book....I spent $20 on the book and more on shipping from virginia to calif....

    don't be fooled by wonderful price.......I would be HAPPY to pay the original price of $20---- provided the product would work CORRECTLY !!!!!!!!!!

    Great idea for staying close to the kids even while you're gone

    We got this book for our two boys to "read" while Daddy was away for the Army. They love how he can read them a bedtime story every night (and they do want to read it EVERY night) even though he's not here with us right now. The story is simple and easy to record, and there's time for you to record personal messages as well.

    My only complaint is that it works by being exposed to light, and the light sensors sometimes don't work unless they are in direct, bright light. This can be a little challenging at bed time when it's not quite so bright in the room. But other than that, it's great!

    Problem resolved

    I, too, had problems during the recording process. After repeated unsuccessful attempts, I was ready to return it. My fiance suggested I try replacing the batteries. It worked. Granted - I shouldn't have had to do this, but it saved me a trip to Barnes and Noble, and I was able to ship it out to my grandson on time. Worked like a charm! How about a credit for those batteries, Barnes and Noble?? :)

    I had such high hopes...

    I bought this book to record it for my daughter, I bought it new but it arrived looking anything but new. I found the cover banged up as if it had been in a play room for a long time, and the recorder is torn from the back of the book so it just hangs there. For what was supposed to be a brand new book I found this a bit odd. I tried gluing the recorder down but it didn't stay that way long. I followed the instructions to the letter and I even replaced the batteries but I could not get this book to record correctly. Other than the first page of the book which it remembered, all of the other pages would only play the dolphin page for me, which was as you can expect quite frustrating. I cannot help but think that if the book had in fact been new and not torn up and broken that perhaps it would have been worth it. One of the other reviewers suggesting holding the book up at right angles but that did not work either.
    I am sorry to say that this was a quite crushing disappointment to me as I miss my daughter daily and I had such high hopes of recording this book and sending it to her. I am going to have to hope that I can talk my local Barnes and Noble into ordering this book for me so that I can check it before I leave the store. Because ordering from the online site was a disaster... This was my first and sadly last order from the B&N online site.

    a lot of trouble for me

    I purchased this book for my grandsons 2nd birthday, coming in Feb/2011. It took me a LEAST a dozen times to finally get this book recorded!! First the instructions are not entirely clear...do you press the record button for EVERY page or just once for the whole book?? I was NOT getting the 'prompts'. At all times (except the last) I had the book opened on the table as suggested. Completly exasperated, I finally held the back of the book (the pages I was NOT recording) at a right angle and stared to get some prompts!! With the exception of one page (the one with the dolphin, which I had to record by holding my right hand against the page and tightly pressing against the balance of the book) I FINALLY was able to get the book recorded. It's a cute book and if you decide to buy it, I hope you have an easier time than I had.

    Be sure to purchase at store NOT ONLINE

    I purchased this book for my son for Xmas on Dember 4th, I am due to deploy on December 28th and wanted him to have wonderful Xmas present but the incompetent people of Barnes and Nobles sent me a defective one, so I sent it back to get a replacement but only to find out that the book was on back ordered and it wouldn't be here until January, so then I asked for a refund and it has been 3 days and NOTHING it is December 18th and I have no book or a refund. Thanks to them I am not going to be able to give my son the Xmas that I wanted to give him, so thanks B&N for ruining my Xmas. And to think I asked for a Nook for Xmas, ppppfffff.

    Doesn't work correctly, VERY FRUSTRATING!

    I bought the book and needed to mail it the next day. After several attempts I was thinking I had it finally working only to find out that it was still not recorded right. I am just returning it. FRUSTRATED doesn't begin to describe how I feel. About an hour of trying to get it to record each page correct only to have it it skip some pages and redo others. Now I get to drive 30 minutes one way to return it and still have nothing to ship. This is a HORRIBLE experience. Neat concept if it actually worked!
