Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This sturdy book with its padded cover has full-page flaps that open to reveal the answers to the questions posed on each double-page spread. There is so much for young toddlers to see and do. A few of the day's highlights include playing in the garden, where one may be able to pick flowers and enjoy the grass. As with other books in the series, clues are offered for kids to use when guessing where; these help them arrive at the correct answers. This particular title reveals its European origin more than the others. It is not common for a young child in the U.S. to ride in a seat on a bicycle or for a mother to take a bag to the grocery store (although that is certainly being encouraged). The day concludes with a nice bath and a contented toddler snuggled in bed. The book begs for interaction between child and caregiver which should support developing communication skills and bonding. Uncluttered illustrations in bold colors on contrasting backgrounds will make it easy for kids to recognize each named item and come up with the answers. This is a good introduction to everyday activities. Other titles in the series include Guess What I'm Doing and Guess Who I Am. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
