Thorough reference, explains different types of ventilation, rationale of each, what to assess in each mode, etc.,

I am new to critical care after 6 years in med/surg. I found this book to be an excellent resource-easy to understand, easy to read. Chapters 6 and 7 deal exclusively with the different modes of mechanical ventilation-explains each in detail (while keeping it simple), definitions/descriptions, indications, advantages/disadvantages, and focus areas of patient monitoring. I consider it money very well spent. A must for those new to critical care (and a good reference for experienced ICU nurses). After reading just those 2 chapters, I feel so much more confident dealing with ventilators because not only am I familiar with modes of ventilation, but I know why the patient is on a certain mode over another one. Our ICU staff doctor is recommending it to the interns and residents at our hospital when they do their ICU rotation.
