David and Kay Scott have spent more than two dozen summers touring the United States and Canada in a series of Volkswagen campers, and two summers backpacking through Europe by rail. David holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Arkansas and has written numerous books on accounting, finance, and investing. Kay is assistant principal at an elementary school in Valdosta, Georgia.

My husband and I went on a month-long tour of the Western US, and looked long and hard for a comprehensive guide to help us.
