Guide to the Quaker Parrotby Mattie Sue Athan, Michele Earle-Bridges (Illustrator)
The Quaker parrot is a favorite among bird owners because of its endearing personality and its facility for human speech. The new, updated edition of this popular book provides expert advice on Quaker parrot behavior training, grooming, diet, cages, toys, and protecting the inquisitive Quaker parrot from household accidents. The author, a widely recognized expert on parrots, emphasizes the importance of reinforcing desirable behavior and instructs on sensitively replacing undesirable ones, such as excessive noisemaking, biting, and feather destruction issues. She also discusses newly identified anatomical features and recovering escaped birds, and presents background information on Quaker parrots in their native ranges and newly-acquired naturalized status. Filled with color photos and instructive illustrations.

This is an unbelievable book! It's an absolute MUST HAVE if you are considering a quaker parrot. Likewise, it is one of those books that a quaker owner should keep handy to reference for just about any problem you may face with your parrot over the next 30 years! It's an information packed book with great graphics at an incredible price!
This book is good if you are searching for a brief overview of the quaker. It gives no specifics, much more research is needed to answer general questions on what type of food is best, why do they exhibit certain behaviors, is this normal/abnormal.
Being first time Avian pet owners, we had no idea. Thank goodness for a friend of ours who had read this book herself and bought us a copy when she found out we got a Quaker from the Humane Society. I loved the fact that I could see immediate results when I put the information I read into action on our Sweetpea. She went from biting to giving hugs. Thank you so much for saving us all!
