Overview

This book has the intent to increase the awareness of parents, teachers and others working with gifted children particularly to recognize that these children and their families have special emotional needs and opportunities that are quite often overlooked and, thus, neglected. Most often this neglect results "only" in unfulfilled potential and missed enjoyments -- but sometimes it leads blatanly to misery and depression. Loving our children just is not enough. As in other jobs that require management roles, we have to know what we are doing!

This is a book that I read again and again. It gives exceptional advice and serious academic background.

Very practical and easy to read. It gets to the point and has lots of great advice. It might seem overwhelming at first, but it is layed out well. The first part of the first chapter is slightly boring with percentages and such but the rest is great!

This book saved our lives! The information and practical suggestions are offered with such understanding and insight that you feel as though the authors had been right in the middle of your family. I have given it to friends as a gifted, and even gave a copy to my child's teacher, and all of them thanked me. I saw recently a publication that said that over 100,000 copies of this book has been sold--and I can see why. I strongly recommend it!
