Meet the Author

I sincerely enjoyed writing this book. The Prowler has been fun to research, since I still find myself rather involved with the college. Many Guilford folks were excited at an opportunity to talk about the college outside of the Guilford Bubble, and without having to worry about the administration's opinions. While at Guilford, I was involved in several different activities, all of which I loved dearly, despite the somewhat obsessive amount of time I devoted to them. I was Editor of the Piper twice, as well as Art-Editor, News Director and goth/industrial music director for WQFS, Religious Organizations rep and Inner Club Council member for Student Senate, and a Clerk and Co-Founder of the Pagan Mysticism Group. I deeply enjoyed my time with my various organizations throughout my stay at Guilford. I also worked for Student Activities for several years, which helped me to recognize all that Guilford has to offer. I graduated in May with a double major in English and philosophy, along with a concentration in photography. Junior year, I had a simply amazing semester abroad in London. I am currently still living in Greensboro—partly because I want to be around Guilford folk during my year off before graduate school. I personally think Guilford is a great place to meet significant others. I met my boyfriend of four years there, who I'm living with in College Hill, surrounded by Guilford alumni. Lately, I spend evenings at the Green Bean drinking merlot, playing croquet in the backyard, and deejaying (as a community DJ) for WQFS—I also deejay at the local goth clubs. I plan to pursue a career in writing and go to grad school for journalism. I am a fourth-generationFlorida native, and two of my favorite things in the world are the Cure and my cat. Thank you to my parents, Sharon and Gary Laird, Beyond Joy, and all my other Guilford friends for continuous support and love. Thanks to Rebecca Saunders for giving me such a fun and entertaining job with Student Activities. My love to all the people who made my time at Guilford an important and lovely part of my life.
