I teach guitar, and this book is going to be the text I use with my electric guitar students. Every kid or adult who wants to play electric guitar must read this book. I always knew that using this one extra long guitar cord tamed my pedals, and never knew why, but now I do. Even as a seasoned player, I learned things that I never knew, and I've read every book on amps out there. This book brings it all together (for both transistor and tube amps) in an uncomplicated, easy to understand and use

This book is amazing. I've played a small variety of different amps, and this book covers them all. It has helped me eek more glory out of my boutique amp and has given an old "beginner" amp that I had a new lease on life by giving me new perspective on setting it up. I can't recommend this book enough to someone who wants to buy a new amp because they feel the one they're using doesn't cut it; information in this book may reveal that feeling to be inaccurate.

A must have if you want to know what you really need to know about guitar amplifiers and how to get good tone all on your own. Thanks to Dave Zimmerman for his unyielding commitment to excellence...

If you're a guitarist, and you want to know EVERYTHING you NEED to know about amps, cabs, speakers, tubes, and tone, this book is the bible. The point to re-emphasize is that target audience for this book is guitarists. For example, there are certainly some technical bits in here about ohms, amps, volts, etc. (and if you don't need 'em, don't read 'em) but if you're interested in that stuff, this never feels like a text book written for engineers or amp techs... Extremely highly recommended.
