Extremely rudimentary information, and much of it is outdated although being published only three years ago.
While I share the author's passion for the 1911, he makes concrete assertions of reliability of all 1911's and specific
brands, which conventional wisdom holds to be the opposite.  These are finicky guns, for the most part, but once
one fires reliably, I agree  it will continue to do so.

If you want to read a history of the 1911 from an extremely biased, pro-1911 POV up to the 1980's, followed by
what almost sounds like a sales pitch for Kimber, this book is for you.

Also, if you want things like magwells (or extended magwells) referred to by their common names, so that people
don't look at you with a puzzled face when you use the author's terms, look elsewhere.  While I am sure the author
is an expert on the 1911, he does not explain himself well in modern terms  and language, nor does he present
more than his own opinion when stating certain controversial details as fact.

    I was disappointed.

There is far better and more current information on the 1911 (and all of them, not just primarily Kimber, Colt
and Springfield Armory, which the author obsesses over) on the internet.
