Meet the Author

Born in Philadelphia, Paul Langan spent his early childhood in the city before moving with his single mother to southern New Jersey. There he attended public school and worked a variety of jobs—including salesperson at a shoe store, attendant at a horse ranch, landscaper at a mental hospital, and a night-shift stockperson in a warehouse store near Atlantic City. “Each job,” he says today, “could be the topic of several juicy novels.”

In 1991, he enrolled at Camden County College and a year later transferred to La Salle University, where he studied creative writing and literature, earning a B.A. in English. While at La Salle, he lived with international students, traveled to his roommate’s home in Kenya, became a prison tutor, and found “the courage” to write.

After graduation, he worked for a nonprofit agency in Philadelphia and then joined Townsend Press (TP) as an Assistant Editor. After he contributed to a number of TP textbooks and taught English at a community college, Paul reconnected to his interests in creative writing through the Bluford Series. Originally working as an assistant with the Bluford novels, Paul’s role steadily grew. He now serves as both editor of the series and author or coauthor of several novels, including The Bully, The Gun, and The Fallen. His stories reflect his personal experiences, including the difficulties of growing up without a father, being the “new kid” in school, and dealing with the loss of a loved one.

In 2001, Paul completed a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to expanding the Bluford Series, he dreams of writing a successful movie script, preferably a “supernatural thriller.” Today Paul lives with his wife and three children near Philadelphia and stubbornly clings to the hope that he will one day see the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl.

    The Gun

    The Gun

"Please don't shoot me!" Darrel cried, lying in a cold, wet, dark alley. What if someone wanted revenge? What if that person had a gun pointed at your head? In the book The Gun this is the situation for Darrel. Tyray Hobbs wants revenge on Darrel, and has a gun to get it. This book is filled with action, once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down. Karma plays a big part in this book, when a big, strong, angry, dishonest bully gets what he used to give. The conflict between Tyray and himself involves making bad decisions and deciding whether to shoot Darrel, himself, or put the gun down. This fun and exciting book is definitely recommended. It is an easy read that you will truly love.

    THE PERFECT BOOK

Do you like excitement, a lot of action, guns, and revenge? If you do than this is the book for you! I liked that it has so much action and has a great ending. Tyray is the main character in this story he is tall and very muscular. The climax in this book is amazing! When Tyray is pointing the gun at Darrell and it's pouring down rain and Tyray is hesitating to shoot... Read "The Gun" to find out what happens.

    The Gun (Review)

Hello. If you are reading this then you probably looking at buying one or several of the Bluford books. The Gun, I think, really captivates the reader. There is really only one main character in this book and his name is Tyray. Tyray is having troubles at home and at school. He is fighting with friends, family, and DARRELL. Will Tyray make the right decision against all this? Will Tyray turn everything around to the way it was, as a bully. You might want to try reading this great breathtaking, heart stopping book and any of the other books in the Bluford Series if you get captivated in this great book. Hope you enjoy it like I did. Have fun reading!

I choose The Gun for my open choice book because it is a good suspense and action book. It is also about actual real life storys. Thats why i also like this book . The Gun is about Tyray Hobbs a teen age kid the goes to bluford high. He is the 'big boss' at school. He beats up all the kids and take there lunch money. Everyone is scared of Tyray . Tyray is always in trouble for the same reasons bullying.
But his reputation has come to a end when a new kid Darrell Mercer came to bluford high. Tyray seen the new kid and tryed messing with him, but Darrell didn't take his crap . Darrell beat up Tyray at lunch . Darrell broke Tyrays wrist. Till that day Tyray had a reputation .
Tyray was super embarrassed and mad at what had happened . So he thought of ways to get revenge back on Darrell and gain his reputation again in school. And his solution was to buy a gun . The Gun was a very good , i liked the whole entire book.

Former troubled teen bully Tyray Hobbs tries to get revenge aft

Former troubled teen bully Tyray Hobbs tries to get revenge after Darrell Miller takes him down in the lunchroom in front of the whole school . Tyray Hobbs loses his reputation once the tables turns . The only way he thought people would respect him again was to get a gun .The only way to get the gun was to get $150 So he lied to a girl name lark so he could get money for a gun. I Would recommend the gun to someone who loves action because the gun is & action packed book two examples of why the gun is action packed is because Tyray Hobbs dad beats him & Tyray he gets bullied by other teen kids .
