Overview

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ALL THE OTHER BOOKS, STOP. Go back and read the books you skipped, including the novellas. Every book has clues and plot points, so if you have skipped books you will probably be lost immediately. :)

Spencer Shrike is a man with a plan. Get in. Get out. Move on. He loves Ron the Bomb, and her safety is the only thing on his mind. But life is a tricky bastard. And conning criminals for the better part of ten years brings its own set of problems. Sure, Rook lied her way out of a sticky situation, covering for Ronin, Ford, and Spencer’s crimes in the process. But not everyone is buying her story and Spencer is desperate to figure out who’s in town setting them up for a fall.

Veronica the Bombshell Vaughn has put up with Spencer Shrike’s shit for years and where has it gotten her? A big fat nowhere. No ring, no house, no kids, and no promises. In fact, Spencer is worse than ever—distant and moody. She’s done sitting at home, pining over a man she can’t have. She’s tired of being ignored and she’s coming out swinging.

Now there’s another man in town with his eye on her. He’s got secrets too, and he’s more than willing to share. She’s ready to jump ship. Because the last thing on Spencer’s mind is a relationship, and Ron the Bomb has had enough.

The entire Rook and Ronin series comes full circle. Every con, every lie, and every skeleton in the closet is back for one final shot at vengeance and the only way to set it right… is with GUNS.

The Rook and Ronin Series has seven books:
(1) TRAGIC
(2) MANIC
(3) PANIC
(4) SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston
(5) TAUT: The Ford Book
(6) BOMB: A Day in the Life of Spencer Shrike
(7) GUNS: The Spencer Book

How sad is it when you absolute favorite series has to end... No

How sad is it when you absolute favorite series has to end... Not to many have five terrific books and two novella's, that connect together in someway. That after reading the first you can't imagine each one could possibly get better than the last... J.A. Huss makes each one hotter...
Well Guns will not disappoint you in the least... If you missed Rook and Ronin a little, they are back in full force... The whole team is here, for one last and final job, to show the world, you don't mess with any of them....
The "Team" will use each individual strength it has to make sure no one goes to jail, gets taken out, or .....
While, Spencer has his own plan for his "Bomb" Veronica to keep her safe away from his past, Veronica can not help but feel hurt and left out from the "Team". A little jealous of Rook and Ashleigh in different ways...
But, in the end all she really wants is Spencer and the life she has always imagined with him.
New characters were introduced thought this series, we look fowared to any new series JA Huss has to come for us. Maybe Rook, Ronin, Ford, Ashleigh, Spencer, and Veronica will get to make guest apperances....

Before you start Guns - you must start at the beginning. It all

Before you start Guns - you must start at the beginning. It all starts with Tragic, Magic and Panic. There you will fall in love with Rook and Ronin. Then you need to read Slack and Taut to fall in love with Ford and Ashleigh. Finally start on Bomb and then read Guns and jump ship to Spencer and Veronica. The team will show up in all the books but that is the correct reading order if you really want to understand and enjoy the series. Now back to Guns:

This is it - the last book in the series (I pray JA changes her mind). I've been dying to read what happens and dreading knowing all at the same time because once it's over, that's it. What I can tell you is that I have lived this series. I eat, sleep and wear this series. Seriously I have mugs, t-shirts, totes, etc. I'm a total HUSSAHOLIC. I've even met more people with the same condition. We hang out on Facebook at a place called Shrike Bikes. If you've come this far in the series and you are not there, go join because it's cheaper than therapy.

Now Guns, where do I start without giving up too many spoilers. I do hate spoilers. The Team is back. Rook, Ronin, Ford, Ashleigh(baby Kate), Spencer and Veronica. This book focuses on Spencer and Ronnie, his bombshell. Spencer loves Ronnie but knows his life is not the place for her right now. He is doing everything in his power to keep her safe, even if it costs him his relationship with her. Ronnie loves Spencer but doesn't know Spencer is in love with her because, as they say, actions speak louder than words and his actions lead everybody to believe she's not the one. Spencer is biding his time until the trial is over and then he plans on telling Ronnie everything. He loves her deeply and already has their life planned out for them. Ronnie, not knowing, is debating moving on. Where their paths end up is a spoiler I will not reveal. I will say you do get a few glimpses into their past and I can say that they are freaking scorching, panty melting even.

Their love story is only part of this book. The team and the trial is a major story line as well. There will be new characters in this book and you have to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad ones. I flip flopped so many times trying to figure out which ones to trust and which ones the team should not. The twists and turns were so exciting that I couldn't put the book down. In the end though, your questions will be answered. I can't tell you whether you will like the answers or if they get a HEA though. You really need to read the book yourself for that.

The only thing I will say is I have hope for more. The damn epilogues did me in but had my mind racing with future stories. Please JA, don't let me down. This Princess would like at least 5 more stories.....

It was nice to see everyone on the team play their parts. They have been through a lot together. What I really loved about Guns is it had a lot of action. There were several twists and turns I did not see coming! I love when a story can surprise me. The ending, and the epilogue. And then the second epilogue. Pure perfection.
This series deserves more than five stars. Although the number five does hold a very special meaning to me. There is so much I love about these books. The characters are quirky and lovable, the writing is top notch, and they are full of humor, steam, romance and action. It’s a great combo. The very best thing about them (well, besides Ford) is that I haven’t read anything else like them. A completely original story line with unique characters is a rarity. Even though Guns appears to be the final installment of the Rook and Ronin series, and it did have a perfect conclusion, I’m really hoping we get more of these fantastic characters in some way or another. As you can tell, I love the book and series! I would highly recommend you give it a go!

I've already mentioned my crush on Spenser Shrike, so it goes without saying that I loved JA Huss' Guns.  It is an incredible wrap up of
the entire Rook & Ronin series including an adorable epilogue.

The book is fast paced and suspenseful.  The dynamics between Spencer and Veronica are great.

I highly recommend this book to friends and followers.  I can't say anything more without possibly ruining an incredibly fun read.

Guns: The Spencer Book by J.A. Huss is a spin-off of the Rook and Ronin Series. You must, must MUST read the Rook & Ronin books before you read this book. There's no way around it, and you'll be happier having read them. Though it's considered a spin-off, it felt a lot like it could be book four in the Rook & Ronin series. The only difference being it was told from Spencer and Veronica's point of view. We get to know Spencer some through the series, but now we really get to know Veronica. I have to say, I would have kicked Spencer to the curb though. Especially after the alley incident. I would've been completely done with him after that. I get what Spencer thought he was doing by treating her the way he did all this time, but he went about it so like a... well, like a guy! Veronica's a tough cookie though, and she's a lot tougher than I thought she'd be.
The ARC Guns: The Spencer Book by J.A. Huss of was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

    WOW!!!!
There was a Whole new side to Spencer in Guns, than there had been in the other books.  (not counting Bomb) I want to say Ford is
still my favorite, but I did really enjoy Spencers story probably more than the others.  And the reason for that is all the secrets that came
out from everyone,  but Ronnie's kick ass attitude couldn't be beat. I am sad this particular serious has now come to an end, but can't
wait for more J.A. Huss books because she has to be one of the better authors I've read lately.
Just a side note,  I loves the covers of every book in this series,  and can't picture better.

Good ending to the series, though I do sense that maybe she left the door open a little for a few novellas :-)

    4-4.5 Stars
I was SO excited yet SO sad to read Guns. Excited for Spencer and Veronica’s story, they really do deserve a happy ending (in my opinion). But sad because it is the end of the Team. I have followed this group of people though many ups and downs in their fictional lives and after reading the last word, it is over. It is over….but it was EVERYthing I could have ever wanted!! Everything is finally explained, every loose end is tied up and it was EPIC!
Spencer spent a whole year pushing Veronica away. While his friends found love and a new purpose, Spencer felt like he needed to keep his love for Ronnie locked away. It is both infuriating and sweet the links to which Spencer tries to protect his woman. He may come up with the plans for the team, but when it comes to Ronnie….she will not fall in line, and this is the BEST part! I love that Ronnie has a mind of her own and will not blindly follow Spencer’s directions. Out of all the girls (Rook & Ashleigh) Ronnie is the ONLY one who stands up to her man (or not man…depends on the chapter). Ronnie’s only downfall is that whenever Spencer touches her all reason flies out of her head. We also get a glimpse of how Spencer & Ronnie fall in love…..and it is pretty HOT! Spencer may be a caveman, but he is Ronnie’s caveman thru and thru.
Things start happening in this book that bring the team on a collision course with some unknown person/persons who want them all to suffer. We learn even more about Ronin, Ford & Spencer’s past and as they learn….payback can be a real B!*TCH!

¿BLOWN AWAY¿ BY GUNS ---- INCREDIBLE ENDING TO THIS OUTSTANDING

“BLOWN AWAY” BY GUNS ---- INCREDIBLE ENDING TO THIS OUTSTANDING SERIES!!!!

There are not enough stars available for this book (and for JA’s entire Rook & Ronin series for that matter)… 5+++++ STARS!!!!

Okay, so I’ve read this entire Rook & Ronin series and all “spin-offs”… and have LOVED LOVED LOVED them! JA Huss is an just an outstanding author, and her writing immediately sucks you right into the story. Pure and utter reading enjoyment in EVERY book of hers that I’ve read thus far. If you haven’t started the Rook and Ronin Series… you MUST start now!!!

So, Guns is Spencer Shrike’s book. I knew going into reading Guns, that it was Spencer and Veronica’s (Ronnie the Bomb) love story. But, what I didn’t know and didn’t expect was how the “Team” would be back together again and how significant that would in this book! OMG… I TOTALLY Freaked Out about that when I made this discovery!!! I love the team together! It made what I thought was just going to be the love story (and maybe a little bit of the Team) into so much more of a completely thrilling, amazing story! It was a Freaking Roller-Coaster Ride of page-turning goodness/action/suspense/sexiness… I could go on and on!!! JUST SOOOO GOOD!!!!

There were new characters and twists and turns… and the ending was just exceptional and utterly perfect! Not to mention, there were two amazing Epilogues!!! LOVED them both! This book left my heart with that satisfied “oh what a GREAT book!!!!” feeling… yet it was a bit bittersweet for me, because I’m sad the series is done. Perfection JA HUSS!!! I’ll always be your fan-girl!!! You’re amazing!!!

    The Grand Finale is Here!!

While the main focus of GUNS is Mr. Spencer Shrike and his love for the Bombshell, we are still following the original characters from the series.

The Team is in big trouble and Spencer can't do enough to keep his girl safe and out of the way. She was already hurt because of him and he is not about to let it happen again. Things are getting muddy fast, Rook's testimony, problems with Ashleigh and strangers showing up in their small town. Ronin has Rook, Ford has his family and Spencer has nothing but time alone to try and figure out what in the hell is going on around them. Spencer loves Ronnie so much everything he does is to keep her safe, however when these two do connect it is something else. They have a certain way of talking to each other that will melt your panties right off. The lines JA Huss writes for these two are unbelievably hot.

Veronica Vaughn loves Spencer Shrike, more than he loves her, so she thinks. Ronnie is sick of Spencer pushing her away and decides enough is enough. Enter Bobby Mansi, he also has secrets, but Bobby will tell them to Veronica and even ask her for help. Tired of being left in the dark with all of The Team activity, Veronica helps Bobby and that is when the S hits the fan-big time.

At 70% of GUNS I didn't even want to keep reading. I know this is the end of the series and I just couldn't imagine it all wrapping up with two epilogues as I heard-but it does and it wraps up beautifully!! JA Huss is a bit of a tease in those epilogues and opens a few more doors although the Rook and Ronin series is finished. This is a great book, sexy as all get out and I am still Team Ford-love that guy.

*sigh* I truly hate that this series has to end - but I couldn't have asked for a better ending. J.A. made me giggle, made me swoon, and made me cry. I've loved every minute of this ride with Rook, Ronin, Ford, Ashleigh, Spencer, and Veronica. GUNS definitely went out with a bang!

In GUNS, J.A. give us more intrigue with some interesting plot twists, as well as lots of feels. I stated in a previous review that Spencer is 'the muscle' of the Team. This point is really illustrated in GUNS. With the trial approaching, tensions increased as Spencer, Ford, and Ronin worry over protecting their girls. And since Spencer's job is to keep everyone alive, the weight of this task falls heavily on his shoulders. We're made aware of all his reasons in treating Veronica the way he does as well as seeing his struggles in his treatment of her. But more than that, we get to see how protective and loyal he is to everyone on his Team. Although he would put one above the rest, Spencer would do anything to save his friends.

And then there's Veronica. She's a pistol! She's tough - she knows how to throw a punch and shoot a gun. But when it comes to Spencer, well, she melts into a puddle of goo. She hates not being a part of Spencer's Team. But mostly she hates not being a part of Spencer's life.

I so love all these characters. I particularly enjoyed learning more about how Spencer initially wooed Veronica. I am, first and foremost, a Ford woman. But I will admit that Spencer would have free-reign with his airbrush and paints. :)

J.A. did an incredible job of tying up this story and leaving me absolutely fulfilled. It was fun, exciting, tense, swoon-worthy, blush-inducing and evoked such emotion from me. As raw as this story is, I appreciate all the details. I adore that J.A. incorporates things such as Rook and Veronica's feelings about one another, Ashleigh, and themselves. I laughed so hard at Ronin and Ford thinking they know their women so well...that they're the bosses in the relationships, when that couldn't be further from reality. And the epilogues...yes, two! Seriously satisfying!

I could go on and on with the fangirling. :) It's been such a pleasure getting to know these characters and live in their world, if only for a brief period of time. I've delighted in watching them grow, mature and 'figure it all out' on their own terms.

This is the end of it, my friends. The finale. The big boom. The last book in the series. /sadface Before you venture further, before you click "Read More", you should know that THIS is not a standalone novel. This brings it all together. This connects the dots. This is where it ends. You need to read up on the team, which means you need to read the novels previous.

This was one of those books that you dread reading. You are dying to read it because you've read the whole series and you REALLY want the book, but you dread reading it, knowing that it means the series is over.

I haven't read a book in a while that handles flashbacks in a seamless fashion. As Spencer is desperately trying to keep Veronica out of the shady side of his life, we get him reminiscing about their relationship. It is an incredible juxtaposition of their relationship then and their relationship now. You see this young, tough, sex on a stick man, hellbent on keeping his Ronnie out of harm's way even if it means she hates him forever, and then you see them just a year earlier romancing one another, lusting after one another, taking the utmost care. It's really incredible and gives such insight to this alpha male who has an ooey-gooey center.

The reason why you need to read the other books in the series: While this is a spinoff, Rook & Ronin's story introduced us to THE TEAM - Ronin the face, Ford the brains, Spencer the brawn. You learn what they do, what they did, and what is currently screwing up their lives. This is what Spencer is protecting Ronnie from; he doesn't want the taint to fall onto the innocent Bombshell who owns his heart.

J.A. Huss has this knack for writing characters that make you as the reader REACT. You itch to bi*chslap some of them, you want to yell at some, you want to cuddle some, you want to kick them in the shins and tell them what's what. These characters POP off the page, so vividly that you are nearly ready to text them to tell them something.

The action is constantly building, the mystery man will make your brow furrow, you will want to kick Spencer's shins in the very beginning for that schmuck move in the alley, but you know he has good intentions. (And he knows for sure that the road to hell is paved with good intentions and what makes him SO likable is that he's willing to sacrifice his own happiness and desires of being with Ronnie forever in order to make sure that she is healthy, safe, and happy. You have to admire that.) You'll get to the final action sequence and say, son of a gun, that sneaky jerk!

I recommend this entire series. It is smart, sexy, and full of action and twists. Characters have personalities that are totally formed by their backgrounds and experiences making them multi-dimensional and realistic as you see them struggle to not be so controlling, or so protective, or to get over themselves. The action is intense, the sex between the couples is explosive, and things definitely go BOOM.

Oh...and that second epilogue? Killer. Absolutely killer!

    5 LOCKED & LOADED STARS!

I was gifted a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Spencer Shrike. He's all business. And damn, is that business ever thrilling! I loved every single word of Guns. Not a lie.

If you're reading this then I'm going to assume you've read the Rook and Ronin series? If not, Go! Read them now! Ok.
So you've read Tragic, Manic, and Panic. You fell in love with the team right? I know I did.

In GUNS, you are reunited with the Team. It's grown a little.. Ronin, Rook, Ford, Ashleigh, Kate (Aww!), Spencer, and Ronnie.
Everyone has a role to play. Guns is loaded with heart-stopping action, hot sex, hardcore shock, and love. Because as bad
ass as Spencer is, he is a man in love.

Spencer loves his bombshell. Which is why he keeps her at arms length. He's seen how Rook and Ashleigh have been forced
in the line of fire, and he wants none of that for Ronnie. But keeping his bomb safe isn't as easy as he'd like. Veronica Vaughn is
not easily contained, which become evident in Guns. But, damn! She can hold her own.

As I've admitted in past reviews, I love Ford. I was way more excited for Taut than Guns. But now that I've read Guns...It was just
as exciting. You get to see glimpses into Spencer and Ronnie's past, how their relationship got to where it is now, and you still
can get your Ford and Ronin fix! How amazeballs is that?

Guns is packed full of action. Yes, there's some scorching scenes between Spence and Ron, but Guns brings the story full
circle. It's leading up to the trial of a lifetime, and things are starting to get ugly.

If you've read the others in the series than more than likely you don't need a review to convince you to one-click this
bad boy! Seriously. Spencer Shrike is the boss!
