Overview

A renowned physician shares her complete 10-day digestive tune-up for women, with important revelations about good gastrointestinal health.

Many so-called cures for women’s bloating and indigestion, from juice cleanses to specialty diets, are based on junk science. For women seeking true relief from that overall feeling of discomfort in any size jeans, Dr. Robynne Chutkan has the perfect plan for feeling light, tight, and bright in ten days. Gutbliss offers:

  • A primer on the real reasons for gastrointestinal distress, and why it’s much more common in women
  • A look at the debilitating side effects of supposedly healthy habits—from Greek yogurt to bloat-inducing aspirin
  • An expert analysis of symptoms that could indicate a serious underlying condition
  • An indispensable checklist to pinpoint the exact cause of your bloating
Just a few small changes in diet, lifestyle, and exercise can make a huge difference in a woman’s digestive health, but the changes have to be the right ones. Going beyond the basics of top sellers such as Wheat Belly, Dr. Chutkan’s Gutbliss empowers women to take control of their gastrointestinal wellness.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Respected gastroenterologist Chutkan, founder of the Digestive Center for Women, candidly tackles the topic of female digestive health with this comprehensive and accessible manual. Chutkan explains the physiological differences that make women more susceptible to gastrointestinal complications than men, maps out the various parts and functions of the GI tract—the “30-foot digestive superhighway”—and talks about potential problems, from mild sluggishness, blockages, and bloat to diverticulosis, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Structured in three parts—“Digestion 101,” “What Could It Be?” and “The Path to Relief and Great Health”—the book pinpoints the causes of GI distress and treatment options (with an emphasis on preventative lifestyle changes). Chutkan also explains connections between GI difficulties and seemingly unrelated topics, such as drinking from plastic water bottles and walking barefoot. The 10-day detox plan is easy to follow and includes a manageable collection of recipes. Packed with no-nonsense explanations, real-life patient stories, and remedies, this guide will empower women to recognize their particular digestive health issues and proactively work with their medical professionals to prevent, treat, and solve them. This book is amazing and incredibly informative, especially for women with gastrointestinal issues. I have suffered for years and have seen two different gastroenterologists who told me to simply lose weight and eat more fiber. That's all well and good but Robynne takes the time to explain your digestive system, how it works and what you should eat and supplements that will help you get back on track. She does all of this in shockingly honest detail, too. After just one week of following the helpful advice in this book I have seen major improvement. I urge anyone who has problems with constipation, bloating and irregularity to buy this book. It will change your life!

I would have never viewed the gastro/colon complex as a puzzle that our body and optimal health solely depend upon!  I love the  way Dr. Chutkan actually relates to her patients in a way that you would never imagine.  Thank  you for this book! Awesome Read.

    Not happy with delivery

Very disappointed. The book took over two weeks to be delivered. I could have bought it elsewhere much quicker. I' m still reading the book. It's very informative and easy to read.

    Was really surprised

My GYN recommended this book only halfway thru it and finding it really interesting Have told my daughter about it and she also got an e-book
At first I thought it was really boring but when I got further into it I find it helpful.
