    Didn't rock MY 'boat'

The only reason I chose this CD of the stage version of Guys and Dolls was because none appeared to be available for the Hollywood movie version. However, had I taken the time to listen to goodly portions of it at one of your stores, instead of purchasing it 'online', I would NOT have bought it. First of all, since I had never seen a stage performance of Guys and Dolls, I was not aware that it is different in many areas in 'book' as well as music. Second of all, the performers who sing on this 50th Anniversary cast recording are unknown to me. Thus, not only did listening to familiar and unfamiliar songs being sung by unfamiliar people kind've throw me, I also could not stop comparing them with the voices (and faces) I had heard (and loved) who sang them in the movie-- and I found that very disconcerting. We all know that Marlon Brando BARELY did what one could call 'singing' in his movie role as Sky Masterson, yet having heard and SEEN young, handsome, macho Brando performing that part -- well, what else can I say?
