Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Perfect for the aspiring young gymnast or any child with an interest in being active and living a healthy lifestyle, this is one of five books in the “Gymnastics” set published by Snap books. It is a great resource for tips and suggestions on training to be a gymnast, focusing on the equipment used in gymnastics and providing statistics about the vault, uneven bars, and balance beam, as well as many others. A “must” for any child interested in the sport, this book provides specifics about safety procedures and equipment that no gymnast can do without. The modern, colorful format which includes exciting photographs, quotes from famous athletes, and fun facts throughout, will hold the interest of even young readers. Though technical terms are often used, a glossary in the back will help increase the reader’s knowledge about the specialized vocabulary of gymnastic competitions. Special features include a list of materials for further reading and Internet sites for children who want to know more. A great book for dance and gymnastics teachers to keep handy, as well as for any parent of a future Olympic athlete. Reviewer: Carly Reagan
