    Esther

As a little girl, I had always loved the story of Esther. She was the Cinderella and the James Bond of ancient Persia, the beautiful, young 'nobody' who was made for 'such a time as this.' This novel is a charming story that retains the original Esther while beautifully detailing her enthralling life.

    Great book

I own this book and have read it several times. It is a nice read and provides some insight into the customs of the day back then. The story of Esther has always been a favorite of mine and this gave it a very personal feel. I did not care for the movie. The book was way better.

When I finished I could not wait to share with a friend. I enjoyed it that much and knew she would too.

The story brought to life an age old chapter from the Bible. It was recommended to me by a friend. I have since given it to another friend.
I will also be recommending it to our Woman's Group for our next book club selection. I rank this right up there with the Red Tent and Mary Called Magdelene.

A Love Story that rivals Gone With The Wind

I loved this story by Tenney. Not only do you discover what it was really like to be chosen as a queen, you understand what Xerxes himself was like. Tenney really brings the story of Esther to life.

Wonderfully crafted tale of Biblical history!

The author gives an amazing recreation of the story of Esther. I was particularly impressed with how the story was tied to events that occurred 500 years before and Tenney did a great job of bringing it all together. If you've always enjoyed the book of Esther in the Bible, then this book is a must read. As for children, I understand there's a children's version or show them the VeggieTales take - 'The Girl Who Became Queen.'

    Great Book

Watching the movie prompted me to find out more information on the inspiration for the movie. This is when I found out that it was actually a book the movie was based on. This book was fantastic. I enjoyed ever minute of it. If you are captured by the story of Esther, this is a book for you.

    Totally Ridicules

To start with, I thought the whole prologue was ridicules, if not farfetched. And I think Trent portrays the other girls ridiculesly, and somehow I find it hard to believe they didn't make love the first night. And the supposed 'court intrigue' falls short, being nothing short of boring.

    a must read

One of the best written novels I have read. The author's words made me feel like I was at the palace with Esther..I was immersed in the history as well as into the souls of the characters.

I couldn't put this wonderful book down!

Hadassah is a captivating book...one I just couldn't put down. I know the Book of Esther, but I loved the story Tommy Tenney developed. My only regret is that it ended. I understand the book may be made into a movie...if you haven't heard the song that Tenney's wife wrote and sings...it is a must!

    A must read.

I found Hadassah an inspiring book to read. It gives hope to those whose circumstance might not be all that they want it to be. The imagery that Tenney uses takes the reader into the palace and into Hadassah's life. I could hardly put it down.

    Wonderful Book!!!!

This book is about 350 pages, I started it about 5 in the evening one night and was finished by 1 the next afternoon. I literally had trouble putting it down even though I knew the basic story of Estar already. The author brings new and exciting insites into a facinating story, which combind for a dynamic read. Total enjoyment and pleasure for me to read. The addition of the modern element (a present day Jewish bride to be) just adds to the greatness of this work of literature!
