As a little girl, I had always loved the story of Esther. She was the Cinderella and the James Bond of ancient Persia, the beautiful, young 'nobody' who was made for 'such a time as this.' This novel is a charming story that retains the original Esther while beautifully detailing her enthralling life.

I own this book and have read it several times. It is a nice read and provides some insight into the customs of the day back then. The story of Esther has always been a favorite of mine and this gave it a very personal feel. I did not care for the movie. The book was way better.

The story brought to life an age old chapter from the Bible. It was recommended to me by a friend. I have since given it to another friend. I will also be recommending it to our Woman's Group for our next book club selection. I rank this right up there with the Red Tent and Mary Called Magdelene.

Hadassah is such a good, and easy reading, but descriptive, and contagious. You won't want to put the book down. All young girls should read it, its truly inspiring. The ending put me in tears, tears of joy,and triumph. I love this book, it easily became my favorite book!!

The author gives an amazing recreation of the story of Esther. I was particularly impressed with how the story was tied to events that occurred 500 years before and Tenney did a great job of bringing it all together. If you've always enjoyed the book of Esther in the Bible, then this book is a must read. As for children, I understand there's a children's version or show them the VeggieTales take - 'The Girl Who Became Queen.'

Watching the movie prompted me to find out more information on the inspiration for the movie. This is when I found out that it was actually a book the movie was based on. This book was fantastic. I enjoyed ever minute of it. If you are captured by the story of Esther, this is a book for you.

I loved this story by Tenney. Not only do you discover what it was really like to be chosen as a queen, you understand what Xerxes himself was like. Tenney really brings the story of Esther to life.
