This is the kind of book that draws you in with the turn of every page. The images are so intimate. Pictures of people and things so private in their nature that only a close friend or relative would be trusted to enter that space. There's a heart wrenching section in the book dedicated to the civil rights movement of the 1960's. It silently tells the story of a very disturbing time in American history. This is more than coffee table material, this is history. The history of a country, its people, and a man with a gift. This is Gordon Parks Half past Autumn: A Retrospective.
