Meet the Author

The storytelling gene was inescapable. A father whose daredevil adventures personified the rebellious preacher's son, a Choctaw mother, and a veritable cast of characters in the family made for lots of "Did you hear about?" stories, as well as the inevitable oral histories.

Influenced by martial arts, trigonometry, Star Wars, and ice cream, Jeff finally decided what he wanted to be when he grew up-which should happen any day now-an author. His long-ignored and oft-lamented Attention Deficit Disorder notwithstanding, you hold in your hands the result of many years of patient writing, re-writing, research, and long hours at the computer.

Jeff's incredibly organized and intelligent wife's influence may be noted in this novel, but she in no way claims responsibility for any of the content, other than to say the story could use some "spice," which is what you would expect from a fan of J.D. Robb.

Jeff and his family live somewhere near Houston, Texas, with two "goggers," three kids, one grandchild, and Dead Tehya, the cat.

Half Past Midnight is his debut novel.

Note from the author: And that, dear reader, is what you get when you allow your wife to write your bio page!

Half Past Midnight reads like a young adult novel with a teenage boy demographic. The villain is an over the top character complete with Asian enforcer. The plot is simple and the hero is your everyday knows everything about martial arts and medieval Oriental weapons. He also has a book with every tidbit of information you could require in a "TEOTWAWKI" situation. Deus Ex Machina is a prevalent plot device. That said you may feel like you shouldn't like it as much as you do but it was a fun read nevertheless. It is no instant classic but I can't complain for the money.

This was one of the most believable post-apocalyptic stories that I have ever read. Well, with the exception of one or two little things. Lots of action, suspense, sadness.........kept me on the edge of my seat. A must read for those who like end of the world stories.

Black Knife crept through inky clouds of black shadows. His head pounded from a harsh blow. He had been walking through Ponyville, looking for Frost when /BAM!/ Somepony decided to jump him.
He'd awoken in the shadowlands, though he couldn't get out. Maybe it was the pain? Whatever. . .
He shook his head, trying to clear his befuddled thoughts. A chilling voice made him jerk it upwards, sending a spike of pain searing through his mind.
"Oh, my poor baby...." the voice crooned, a tan hoof appearing from the mist. A beige body followed, pale cerulean mane falling over emerald eyes.
&beta&kappa gasped, choking on his words. "M-mother. . . ?"
"Yes, my darling. I'm back." The mare placed a soft hoof on his shoulder, though it made his skin tingle with cold.
"No," he shook the hoof off, taking a step back, "you're not my mother. Fatefall is gone."
"Skotos can bring her back." The mare purred.
"Do not speak of him. He corrupted her."
"And without him, you wouldn't be alive."
"Then kill me! Then maybe none of this will have happened!"
"Gladly. . ." The mare lunged forwars, her tan coat fading to the color of wet ash, her eyes going up in a bonfire. Her jaw disconnected, her teeth elongating into jagged flames.
&beta&kappa fell back, attempting to scramble away. The shadowpony towered over him, foul breath fogging his senses.
He suddenly whipped his knife upwards, sinking it into the pony's stomach.
It opened its mouth in a silent scream and disappeared in whirling vortex.
&beta&kappa gave a ragged gasp and stood. He closed his eyes and poured all of his energy into shadowtraveling back to Ponyville. He slowly faded into the shadows.
~~~
[ I'm BAAAAACK! ~ Moone ]
