    A fine vampire tale

Half-breed Catherine ¿Cat¿ Crawford has always had an icy relationship with her mom because her mother has never moved past the fact that her daughter was the result of a vampire raping her. To try and gain her mother¿s approval, Cat hunts down and kills vampires but in spite of her being good at her vocation and the danger she places herself in, Cat knows her mother still sees her as a rape byproduct who ruined her life.----------------- When Cat attacks master vampire Bones, who is a professional vampire bounty hunter, he defeats her. He is attracted to this unique warrior and persuades her to join him in battling evil vampires. While that will not make her any popular with mom, she agrees especially when he explains he has chased after Hennessy for years, but the psychotic vampire successfully kidnaps and kills the unattached.------------ This dark vampire romance will grip fans from the moment that Cat and Bones meet and never slows down until the last bite occurs. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action even with a first person perspective because the grim world of Frost comes across as real. Fans will enjoy this fine thriller as Bones may convince Cat that since she can¿t please her mother not even if she died, she should try to please herself if not that than please him as a worthy partner who admires and loves her.------------ Harriet Klausner

I WAS SO skeptical..... I'm GLAD I tried this series!!

I'm so glad I gave in and read this! I consider myself very picky about my paranormal romance books. Examples of my favorites are, "Twilight" series (OF COURSE), JR. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood" and "The Sookie Stackhouse" series. That should give you an idea about my taste in books. I've "started" approximately 3 other paranormal romance series only to lose interest for one reason or another. I'm on book #2 in this series and so far I love it! I gotta say, for the readers that are too shy to ask, there aren't as many sex scenes (erotica is a guilty pleasure of mine! Hence the lack of that fifth star) & they aren't as explicit as, for example, Lora Leigh's Breed series, but the connection/attraction/romance between Cat and Bones is enough to give me butterflies at times. Definitely touching enough to keep me reading!! I'm VERY happy with this series & I hope beyond hope that Jeaniene Frost keeps up the wonderful pace and relationship with Cat and Bones. I'm a sucker for a happy ending. This series in ongoing too, so that's a plus!! Books to look forward to. :~) P.S To be 100% FAIR, if I wasn't such a pervert (LOL!!) I would give this book 5 stars!!

    Sexy

Falling in Love with a vampire has never been so sexy, or dangerous. Hell bent on staking every vampire she meets, Cat finally meets her match when Bones, who is not only a vampire-- but a vampire killer himself, enters her life. Once Bones learns Cat's secret, he decides to team up with her instead of killing her and shiping her off in pieces to his enemy- thought to have sent her to kill him. Somewhere between the brutal training and staking evil vampires, Cat and Bones realize they want nothing more than eachother in every way....... Put the kids to bed, keep your husband or boyfriend handy-- you'll need him later!

    better than excellent!

I am in love with this series. Jeaniene Frost's entry to the Night Huntress Series is impeccable. It is romantic, hilarious, whimsical, and titillating. It is somewhat a coming-of-age story with a delightful vampire twist. Cat is an excellent heroine: courageous, sexy, witty, stubborn and full of life. And Bones. Goodness Bones!!! Love him to death. Frost definitely succeeded in effectively writing her characters. They are relatable and dynamic. The tension is very palpable and you will be engaged from beginning to end. And you will wish for no end. You will wish the series will go on and on. The following three books in the series are must-reads as well. Definitely highly recommended!

    AMAZING

If you loved the Sookie Stackhouse series as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, this is definitely for you. Thrilling, romantic, and overall awesome, Cat and Bones will have you hooked from the very first chapter. I also recommend all the other books in this series, as Jeaniene Frost does an excellent job keeping the readers captivated from the first sentence to the very last.

    Great fun

I would never rank this book among the best written, it's not, but it is a great story. It's a fast read, exciting, and funny and just plain fun to read. I wasn't immediately impressed by the first page but the draw of Cat's character was immediate and the simplicity of the writing is a positive. Before you know it you're done and wishing there were more.... fortunately there is. The sequel is great too.

    I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE!

I admit this series has been in my TBR pile for a bit too long. After reading many, many, positive reviews, I finally started book one when my friend talked about how good it was. She told me to hurry up and read it because it's a series that makes you want to talk about it. I am thrilled with the characters here. Cat is a great heroine who you'll love the more you read about her. Bones is perfect for her and they are a dynamic duo that you won't soon forget. For me, this will go in my favorites list. It is exciting and starts off capturing your attention and is great right through the end. I love this book!

    Addiction overdose warning!

Recently I've started several hot series that others have been absolutely raving about. Just when I thought it couldn't get any hotter, I find myself needing an ice bath after reading Halfway to the Grave. This book was so steaming hot, friends!

Let me give you a taste without burning your mouth:

Cat Crawfield has a secret. She's half vampire/half human and she's out to avenge her mother's rapist. But the rapist is the very essence of her being: a vampire AND her father. With a makeshift stake and a mission, she sets out to con and kill every vamp she can. Along the way she is forced to team up with the very thing she despises: a vampire named Bones. Problem is, Bones is way too hot for her hormones and emotions to deny. Together they set out to uncover and destroy to a nasty little slave ring made up of vamps and humans.

What made this book so hot for me? Bar none, the characters. Cat Crawfield is an exceptionally strong female lead that never gives up. She's feisty, sexy, and funny as hell! I absolutely loved her wit. Bones was pure masculine vampire. He's the kind of guy that gets what he wants no matter the cost. The interaction between these two was unadulterated magnetism. I could feel the electricity coming off the pages, and I couldn't get enough of it.

Halfway to the Grave was like an addicting drug that I'm afraid I may overdose on by the time I read all of the books in the series.

Make no Bones about it, friends (did I just say that? - YES I DID!), if you haven't started this series, run, don't walk to get your copy today!!! I promise you will not be disappointed.

    Love IT!

I loved this book. I'm always nervous going into new books, hoping I picked something that is readable! Well HOT DAMN! Cat and Bones are flippin fantastic! Theres an edge to the characters, there's sex, romance, comedy, and great fighting in this book! There are a few things that I could have done without when it came to the Vampires which one is the green eyes! But I understand the reasoning behind it! It's a must read if you like Vampires, fighting, sex, etc....enjoy!

    Really Freakin' Good

Ok, I have to start by saying that I am deeply in love with Bones. I have ready MANY vampire books over the past 30 years and he by far, in my opinion, is THE sexist and most interesting. Whew! He is luscious. Thank you Jeaniene for some really "interesting" dreams. (wink). Now that I've gotten that off my chest, the story is great. Very interesting premise and characters. Great humor, wit and sarcasm. Well written and hard to put down. Loved it!!! Half way through this book I downloaded the second book. I will confess that I was put off by the cover because I thought, here we go again, another really sexy, really tough chic vampire slayer. Let me guess, she is oh so bad a**, so luscious every man wants her, no one can stand up to her, blah, blah, blah. So, unfortunately for me, I kept moving this series to the bottom of my reading list and finally, the time came for me to sample one book. Boy, do I regret not reading this book sooner. Cat is evolving and is really really likeable right now. I can tell the author is moving towards the bad a** personality. I think it is warranted, to a certain degree. I just hope it doesn't go so far that it becomes completely ridiculous and Cat is no longer interesting.

Haven't been the same since reading it.

Lately, the romance and fantasy novel landscape seems to be inundated with urban vampires. Even Abe Lincoln was supposed to have been a vampire hunter! However, I was quite thrilled with Jeaniene Frost's first installment of her 'Night Huntress' series.
While some aspects of her vampires are in the general lore, there are so me differences. Sunlight doesn't kill them, religious objects don't work, and garlic would only amuse them.
Her heroine, Cat, is half vampire and half human. She is bent upon finding and killing vampires, as one had raped her mother, resulting in Cat's own birth.
It is on one of her hunts that she runs into the darkly handsome, fascinating, and dangerous vampire, Bones. Striking an agreement, Cat finds herself under Bone's tutelage so that the two can fully utilize her beauty and deadly abilities to destroy certain vampires.
Yes, there are romantic elements. The chemistry between Cat and Bones is one of the major themes which drive the series. Cat, especially, does an enormous amount of growing throughout the books as she is forced to examine herself in light of her relationship to Bones. I'm not saying that Cat is LESS than Bones. She is clearly his equal. She is strong, smart, and incredibly loyal. If anything, her flaws and her attempts to overcome them make her more believable.

I See Why My Book Club Raves About This Series!

Cat and Bones are great as a couple! They kill vampires together, get in crazy situations together, love together, and then, kill MORE vampires together. Lots of action, suspense, even a little humor thrown in for good measure. Excellent book, and now I understand why my book club loves them. Cat and Bones ROCK!!!

I thought I was over Vampire Novels.. Until I read this incredible Book!!

There are no Spoilers in this review**

I thought I was over Vampire Novels, I receently read Dark Lover by J.R. Ward- and I must say, I felt it didn't really impress me. So, I ventured into this little gem of a book-and now I am hooked :) The book has two amazing main characters! They are the kind of characters that you can see when you are reading, and can undoubtfuly relate to. Cat is a strong female character, she is a half-vampire and is 22 years old. Bones the male character and he is a vampire, who has an awesome accent! This book is funny and sexy and the more provocative scenes are so tastefully done. The action scenes are incredible. The author writes them, and when you read it, you feel like your right there with them in the middle of the battle. I reccomend this book highly to anyone who is a fan of great writing and a action packed plot!! Happy Reading!

    Loved It!

So I had already read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books, the BDB books, some Meredith gentry, and I was getting burned out on the vampires at this point. I came across this book after having already searched B&N a million times for another good series! I read the excerpt and thought I'd give it a try. At first it started off a little slow and I thought I might have wasted my money but it just all of a sudden picked up nicely! Loved the half-dead/vicious-female concept, romance was great, action and humor were great! I rushed to get the second one as soon as the bookstore opened! Must read!!!!
