    Halibut Jackson:Tailored for the Shy

Halibut Jackson is my pick for one of the year's best children's books. This shy little person, blends benignly into his surroundings owing to his genius with a needle and thread. How many of us have looked for an exit when aked to make a presentation, or in the case of one of my own, who made himself nearly invisible by bending at the knees when his school chorus sang on the risers. Halibut Jackson is a dear little fellow that one must look for in each illustration. He's not gawky like Waldo, just human and unaware of his charm. His discovery and resulting admiration don't reduce his shyness, but he does find his niche in the world.
