Meet the Author

Jill Kalz is the author of more than 70 children's books. Her picture book Farmer Cap (Picture Window Books) was a finalist for a 2008 Minnesota Book Award and the winner of the Readers' Choice Award and an AEP Distinguished Achievement Award. Jill also writes short stories and poetry for adults. She works as a children's book editor and lives in Minnesota with her charismatic dog, Tuckerbean.

Hector was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he currently resides with his wife Silvana and daughter, Micaela. He had initially studied to become a lawyer but found his true passion was illustration. He began his career as a graphic designer and then eventually developed into an illustrator. Hector published his first illustration in Argentina at age 19. His work has appeared in advertising campaigns, magazines, newspapers and textbooks in several countries including Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Mexico. In 2002, Hector decided to pursue the American market and during his first visit to NY, he landed a series of books for Scholastic. While not illustrating, Hector enjoys playing soccer and perfecting his tango.

MB Artists represents illustrators whose work is primarily intended for the juvenile market in books, editorial publications, licensed merchandise, advertising, toys, game boards or other applications. Previously known as HK Portfolio, the agency currently represents over 62 illustrators in the United States, Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, Canada, England, Philippines and Italy. The majority of the artists represented have many years of professional experience, while some are the emerging talents of tomorrow. All are dedicated to the art of illustrating for children.
