Halloween: Illustrated with full-color and duotone Photographs

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 1-3-Twenty three professional photographers contributed pictures of children (and William Wegman's dog) dressed up for Halloween. Some are in black and white, while others are full color. Some are in the stark photojournalism style of Life magazine, others are posed. Some give the appearance of casual snapshots, while still others are blurred impressionistic images. Leiner attempts to supply the emotions she feels the children in the photographs are experiencing as they dress up for the festivities. The text for each photo is sketchy, leaving much to the imagination; it does nothing to unite the pictures into a cohesive whole. The end result is a group of at times striking individual portraits in a handsome format united only by the title. A Halloween shelf-sitter.-Kay McPherson, Central Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, GA
