Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Marcos P. Santos, DVM (University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine)
Description: This concise handbook on equine emergencies is a guide to common procedures and common diseases for practitioners and recent graduate veterinarians.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a field guide to equine emergency situations.
Audience: Equine practitioners and recent graduate students of veterinary medicine are the intended audience
Features: The handbook provides an easy to find and follow guide to emergency procedures, particularly for situations where practitioners need some guidance and help is not available either in person or over the phone in remote areas where there is limited service. It contains a large number of good quality color images, diagrams, and tables, as well as convenient tips and key points to assist equine practitioners in dealing with common emergency situations.
Assessment: There are other books in this field, but they are not as convenient to carry and they do not have the same quality images. This handbook should be kept at all times in the truck, where it will not take up space for other important tools.
