Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer:Douglas Erik Elliott, M.D.(University of Colorado Health Sciences Center)
Description:This third edition of a handbook of interventional procedures surpasses the previous editions.
Purpose:According to its authors, the purpose is steadfast — to emphasize "practical details on procedures and patient management." This updated edition meets and surpasses this objective as it continues to find a niche in the everyday workings of the interventional department.
Audience:Intended for residents and fellows, this is a valuable resource for everyone involved in the cardiovascular and nonvascular interventional procedure, regardless of their area of expertise.
Features:The best feature of this book is its consistent outline of each vascular and nonvascular topic. Each chapter details the indications, contraindications, preparation, techniques, post-procedural care, and results/complications. Compared to the last edition, the number of chapters has increased from 40 to 60 in order to reflect the broadening field. The appendixes, glossary, figures, and tables add valuable information.
Assessment:This is a valued resource for all members of the interventional team. The updated edition maintains the previously successful chemistry.
From The Critics
Focusing on procedural protocols and equipment, this pocket-sized reference explains how to perform current interventional radiological procedures. It also discusses related issues, including risk management, outpatient care, diagnostic arteriography, materials and methods, nursing management, and drug pharmacology and dosing. Black and white drawings illustrate some procedures. Contributors include doctors and medical researchers from the United States, Israel, and Canada. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
