Overview

The Third Edition of this popular, practical, take-along handbook features twenty new chapters and extensive updates throughout to keep pace with the rapid growth of interventional radiology. Focusing on protocols and equipment, the book explains how to perform all current interventional radiology procedures--from pulmonary angiography and vein embolization to biopsy, drainage, and stenting. Coverage also includes satellite issues, such as risk management, outpatient care, and drugs and dosages. The outline format makes information easy to find, review, and remember...and the compact pocket size enables residents and practitioners to carry all the information they need with them.

The book contains black-and-white illustrations.

From The Critics
Reviewer: Douglas Erik Elliott, M.D.(University of Colorado Health Sciences Center)
Description: This third edition of a handbook of interventional procedures surpasses the previous editions.
Purpose: According to its authors, the purpose is steadfast — to emphasize "practical details on procedures and patient management." This updated edition meets and surpasses this objective as it continues to find a niche in the everyday workings of the interventional department.
Audience: Intended for residents and fellows, this is a valuable resource for everyone involved in the cardiovascular and nonvascular interventional procedure, regardless of their area of expertise.
Features: The best feature of this book is its consistent outline of each vascular and nonvascular topic. Each chapter details the indications, contraindications, preparation, techniques, post-procedural care, and results/complications. Compared to the last edition, the number of chapters has increased from 40 to 60 in order to reflect the broadening field. The appendixes, glossary, figures, and tables add valuable information.
Assessment: This is a valued resource for all members of the interventional team. The updated edition maintains the previously successful chemistry.
