If you could buy only one book on WW2 German military forces, make it this one. Talk about nitty-gritty! You'll find stuff like wages for each rank, what soldiers ate, what a dog's gas mask looks like, how to arm and deploy land mines, and, naturally, tactics, uniforms, weapons and equipment. The only (slight) inaccuracy was of a drawing of an Me-262 jet fighter which was rendered before the actual aircraft fell into Allied hands. Ironically, this adds to the 'vintage' effect of the work. For serious students of militaria, as well as modelers and casual readers of the subject, this book is worth more than its price.
